Just think in this media obsessed digital age, there are too many interested parties not to leak something if there was even the merest, slightest hint of a problem here.

absolutely. The media can't wait to sell our players or belittle us. If there was a chance they could p!ss on our chips with regards to Koeman believe me they would. Whilst it's irritating the silence is a good sign.

I would presume Southampton would want a response soon. They need to get on with the job of finding his replacement, something that must be difficult whilst Koeman is still officially their manager.

Yes absolutely. Hats what. I would have expected to happen, rather than us all waiting for him to saunter back for ten days

So you'd rather he came in signed all up then went away?
Rather than just come back and go straight into the job and get on with it?

Bit weird

I don't see why they would set such store in making the announcement of a new manager and DOF simultaneously.

I see no great advantage to waiting to annoint Ronald this long if the deal for the new manager is already signed.

In fact, I think it would have been far better to have announced the new managerial appointment this week and the DOF next week......to keep the good news items rolling on and the spotlight being shone positively on the club over two or more weeks.

Which leads me to worry a bit that the Koeman deal is not as set in stone as we are being led to believe it is.....not by the club it must be said because they are outdoing La Cosa Nostra when it comes or omertà.

But by the press.

In short......if this Ronald Koeman thingy goes tits up, I for one will not be surprised :(

Hi Khal,
in terms of exposure, there are differing schools of thought on the timing of press releases.
Let's just assume for a minute that Everton have or are close to securing Monchi to be DoF...

Some media people would suggest a two-in-one announcement with a full-blown press conference is the way to go as it'd likely be seen as a 'blockbuster'.

However, others would suggest two separate announcements as it doubles the exposure - papers bought, website clicks etc.

Certainly in minority sports, the second scenario is much more prevalent as they want a constant, more regular turnover of media exposure rather than occasional 'big hits'... for a Premiership football club of Evertons' standing, this isn't/shouldn't be the case.

That said, our current standing with the media is much lower than the so-called 'big clubs' e.g. Manure, where the likes of a Rooney/De Gea/Rashford breaking wind warrants a yellow banner scrolling across Sky Sports news tv screens :)
