I'd say Southampton's and Everton's squad are of a similar quality. Lukaku is far better than any striker they have, but we are likely to lose him. Their midfield is better than our's, but they are likely to lose Wanyama, and possibly Mane as well as their forward Pelle. Their defence is decent, as is our's, but our defence was utterly disabled by Martinez the saviour, and that's a key reason as to why Southampton have finished above us for the first time in about 100 years.

To claim Barry is better than Wanyama is just ridiculous though, I'm afraid. We would quite correctly swap Barry for Wanyama in a heartbeat if we could, but we can't because he is off to play Champions League football with Spurs.

It's been said many times on here but I'll say it again, it'll be evolution not revolution, people like you are saying things like that so when it doesn't happen you can somehow feel justified. We'll make forward strides on and off the field but it will take time.

Wanyama better than Barry.

Tadic better than Belgian Kev.

Unreal levels of jarg rubbish from Saints fans
Come on, I know your wearing blue tinted glasses, but if you think Stones (as good as he can be) is such a huge improvement right now, on a very good defender in Fonte, and that Barry and Mirallas are such a big improvement on Wanyama, and Tadic (who got more goals assist combined than Payet last year) I question your judgement.

Oh I'd question my judgement on plenty of things, I've had three different itches and weeks of strange seepage in the past.

However anyone claiming that Fonte is in the same stratosphere of talent that Stones is clearly needs sectioning

it is you lot pointing out that 2 years ago, you were SO MUCH better than us with this squad.
given Koeman is miles better than martinez. 4th or above should be no problem seeing as we finished 3 points from that spot and it was 'not all that'

not many (if at all) saints players could get into your current side so even without signing anyone, you should be top 4 no problem

Finally a sensible post, one of the few sensible responses to the saints fans question

I think your posts are fair mate. In the end a lot of football is about a certain bias, people remember the good days over the bad days. I also think as football fans we can see two similar players but the "would we want him" question is different to the "is he better than". I probably wouldn't swap Tadic for Mirallas but at their best I'd say they are quite similar.

I look at your squad and it is very impressive. Forster, Fonte, Van Dijk, Wanyama, Tadic, Mane are all as good as if not better than some of the players we have in our positions. I would say (at their best) Stones, Barkley, Lukaku, Mori, Baines, Coleman wouldn't look out of place in your side either.

Well you had 5 teams finishing above you, 2 of which have had new world class managers. I would imagine that would be a pretty hard aspiration. (I also think it's fair to say we are not miles better than you!)
