Ok so since you didn't adequately address this point I'll lay it out more plainly we managed with the same squad you're trying to downplay to not only get a higher points total than you could dream of but also a higher total than spurs this year which would make us 2nd. I understand all fans have bias but you sir are either an excellent angler or an idiot.

O and Mane and Tadic over Deulofeu or Mirallas is hilarious.
I appreciate the personal insult, for just discussing football. However I understand that two years ago you had a very good team, that did better than our team this season, but assuming you can just just copy and paste that same team into a new season with a good manager, and expect the same results, is silly. Yes the players can be very good players, and have that potential, but saying because your team two years ago was good, it must be good now, in entirely different circumstances, doesn't make sense.

Mane had a poor season, and still had a better season than Deulofeu. Tadic objectively had a better season than Mirallas this year and last year.

Just because I support a different team, and have different opinions, doesn't mean my opinions are hilarious or deluded. Your acting like because I think one player is better than another, it is a personal attack on Everton, it's not, I'm just discussing football.

it is you lot pointing out that 2 years ago, you were SO MUCH better than us with this squad.
given Koeman is miles better than martinez. 4th or above should be no problem seeing as we finished 3 points from that spot and it was 'not all that'

not many (if at all) saints players could get into your current side so even without signing anyone, you should be top 4 no problem

Will you be finishing above us again this season then? I'm intrigued what you think about that. Every season if different answering your post, many teams have more money to spend and I see you lot moving way to a similar position to where we were this season. It was easier this season with United, City and Chelsea taking a year off, the league was weaker.

maybe some of the stuff coming from a few saintsweb posters have an element of truth behind them, in parts

No they don't. I have covered the deceit and falsification coming from Southampton ITK's in my statistical thread on Southampton, but it's a fairly comprehensive account of Southamptons conduct in this. Trying to use a few twitter rumours and Koemans holidays to re-write what has happened to save face (that didn't need to be saved had your board not upped the stakes to levels they couldn't live with) is astonishing behaviour.

I think your posts are fair mate. In the end a lot of football is about a certain bias, people remember the good days over the bad days. I also think as football fans we can see two similar players but the "would we want him" question is different to the "is he better than". I probably wouldn't swap Tadic for Mirallas but at their best I'd say they are quite similar.

I look at your squad and it is very impressive. Forster, Fonte, Van Dijk, Wanyama, Tadic, Mane are all as good as if not better than some of the players we have in our positions. I would say (at their best) Stones, Barkley, Lukaku, Mori, Baines, Coleman wouldn't look out of place in your side either.
I agree mate, I think you could have a good argument either way on a lot of the players, I lean one way, others may lean another, which is fair enough.

First of all if you're actually insulted by the word idiot or that your opinion could be hilarious to someone else grow thicker skin. Next if you want to follow the line of logic that you set up re: cut and copy seasons then why talk about which player had a better season as that's not the question and negates the point you made two lines before it. Deulofeu and Mirallas are more talented players than Tadic and Mane. End of.

there is more going on with this.
but there is obviously more to this than we know. despite you lot saying otherwise (or some of you)

I still expect Koeman to be an Everton manager but not all plain sailing though, is it.

As indicated a few twitter posts have not proven in any way "there is more to this". If you had listened to Southampton ITK it would have been;
1) Koeman had no interest in Everton
2) Southampton are as big as Everton so it won't be a sideways step.
3) Koeman will sign a contract
4) Koeman has publically distanced himself from Everton (he hadn't).
5) (When Koeman was on holiday) Koeman has turned Everton down.

None of the above proved to be true. Unfortunately it appears Southampton ITK's can't learn the words "I am sorry I got it wrong". Koeman signing a day after first anticipated is hardly evidence to try and discourage how wrong they have been throughout this process.

I suspect the delay will be as much down to Everton securing a DOF, that is far more likely. Those who had bothered to listen to Evertonians and not fallen into the "there is more going on with this" idea would have known Koeman was nailed on to Everton the moment we decided we wanted him.

I agree it's not perfect, but it's a better indicator than most. Over the course of 38 games last season, our squad managed to get the sixth highest point total, while we don't have the sixth best squad, we can't be a million miles away.
Look 5 spaces higher and you'll see incontrovertible evidence that outright quality of squads is no guarantee of where a team will finish over the course of a season, and that good management and tactics have a huge impact.

Also, look at the fact that you're here. If it were all down to the quality of your squad, and management were irrelevant (both positive and negative) you wouldn't be bothered about Koeman leaving.

The only thing your post is lacking is "FACT." at the end of it. I'm talking about last season as an indicator, because it is the most recent barometer of how a player performed, and how 'good' they are/were.

Absolutely and in all honesty we all instinctively favour the player who plays for our team or we watch every week if they are similar. I always think though a good way of looking at it is if your club signed a player would you be happy (forget the fee etc). The names I gave you I'd be delighted to see sign for Everton.

You've got a very talented and well balanced squad for me. The only other lad I'd throw on who I missed out was Claissie. Was really impressed with him at Goodison this year, covered every blade of grass and can play. What's he like? I'm surprised some top teams aren't knocking on the door for him. He's everything we wanted Mccarthy to be.

Also what's happening with Ward Prowse? Does he live up to the hype?
