Spoke to a mate who is a spurs fan yday about AVB.
In short, he was the fall guy for Baldini spunking all that money on players he didn't even want.
Says the style of football isn't as flamboyant or attractive as other managers but the team was always disciplined.

Surely worth a punt?

A manager part way between cautious pragmatism and not very sensible gung-ho flamboyance, sounds ideal!

I'd take that.

i want to see an everton team know exactly what they are doing on the pitch, add some creative or good attacking in there and i'll be satisfied with the change.

Only if we win some more games like

God you lot have short memories. He's the bloke who played a ridiculous high line against Liverpool and Spurs got tonked about 8-0. We need someone who can organise a defence, get our young players to show some discipline and instill a fighting spirit. An experienced practical manager is what we need, not another idealist.

According to wiki AVB has 287 games as manager and over 60% win rate. 55% win ratio at Spurs too. I'd take those sorts of stats in a heartbeat.

to be honest my feelings a a bit different this time around.

Moyes bored me to death by the end, i didn't think we were enjoyable to watch in the last 2 years and roberto's attacking style and promotion of youth seemed refreshing and perfect for me.

Now after seeing how bad the team is, i long for a manager who can at least organise the team, have them defending like a premier league team, disipline and structure. Then when we have that, build our attack around it. First rule of football, you don't lose if you don't concede, without an all out pulis style, i'd like us to go back to at least having that so we can put emphasis on our attackers to win the game rather than our defence not conceding more goals as it is now

Agreed. Maybe we needed Roberto to get us the manager who can really take us forward. After a decade of Moyes I wouldn't have been happy with a replacement who focuses on defence first and we all wanted someone who loves to play expansive football. Now we've seen the two extremes though we can get someone who sits in the middle and knows how to win games and take on the opposition without dropping their knickers in defence.

To be honest though if we get someone who gives us a 60% win rate they could play any style they want.

i think that is it yeah, one who can do both equally well.

I don't expect us to win every single game we play, but it would be nice if we didn't look like we were going to either, and go into a game not owrrying about defense but go back to talking about barkely and del and Rom (if we hope hard enough lol) and whoever else comes in, about how they are going to beat the other team.
