At this moment, that's what I'm hoping for. I think he would fit in here. Even if he was to turn us down. So what? At least we can say we tried to go for one of the best managers in world football. And that in itself speaks volumes about ambition.
Yes always puzzling that attitude, you should draw up a list of managers without saying they wouldn't come here and go for it. If they turn you down so what!

In my opinion, Brian Clough and Mourinho have something in common. Both outspoken controversial figures, but fundamentally winners. I wanted Clough at the club, my grand dad wouldn't have him near us, he used to call him ol' Big 'ead. You need a certain type of chairmen to go for someone like that. Going back, Robson was a good choice too, completely different sort though but we know what happened there.

If we have a chance and I agree it's slim. We should go for it. The thing is during the summer, there is an amazing amount of talent available. The Esk says, they've drawn up a list of proven winners. That gives me a great deal of optimism considering the blackest of weeks we've just had.

kithnou I saw the Reddit link too, I can see Favre and Mancini being considered, Clement is a bit of a strange one.

As a side note talking of strange. It always bewilders me, how when if you mention, GoT or other Everton sites, people seem either unaware of what's going on or sometimes even reluctant to visit them for Everton news.

First thing I do in the morning is look to see what's going on. The last place I look is in the general media, who seem to be the last to be ITK.

Is Favre not a reasonable target? Honestly haven't seen his team play, but he sounds like an effective coach with many of the features that we'd be looking for in a coach.

Favre would be amazing. I think people really need to understand how good he is. I can't emphasize enough how difficult it is to do the double of Peps Bayern Munich. It's almost impossible. Anyone who can do that is more than a candidate.

He should be a candidate, no problem with that. Although it's impossible to galvanize the support around one person as a candidate, which is like herding cats. I think what we need right now is someone who has a record of winning trophies.

Going through another generation without silverware would be disastrous. If we've got the money and we back him with that money to compete, let's hire someone who has a history of winning trophies.

I know that's anathema to some folks, hire someone to do a job, even if it is a mercenary in some peoples eyes, back him financially. We chronically need to re-assert ourselves.

The thing about Favre is, while he's certainly a very astute and capable manager, I wouldn't suggest his appointment would be a "statement of intent".

His league finishes with BM were excellent (4th,8th,6th and 3rd). He cultivated some excellent young players, moving them on and rebuilding the team as a whole.

I would be happy with him of course, however I would prefer QSF or Emery if they could be got.

I think its obvious Mosh will bring more resources to the club but lets not go overboard and suggest we are now some super heavyweight capable of attracting and getting the best of the best overnight in terms of playing and coaching staff.

I could be wrong, and in many ways I hope I am, but is there anything at all to suggest Mosh wants to (or has the capacity to) turn us into a PSG or a City here?

Mourinho & Pellegrini would be statement of intent appointments
De Boer, AVB, Favre type of appointments would be long term "projects"

I honestly think one of the best things Moshiri and Kenwright could do would be to sit down with Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku and some of the other players and ask for their input. Not to pick the manager outright, of course, but show them the short list and ask them genuinely how they'd feel about playing for the guys on the list. Whether or not our bright young stars agitate for a transfer this summer will have a lot to do with who's running the team next season, and if it comes down to two or three guys who could do about as well as each other, I want the one that Romelu Lukaku wants to work with.

Whilst that's an interesting idea I don't think it's the best way for a new manager to start his tenure at all, think psychologically these players need a kick up the arse and to be put firmly in their place, letting them have a hand in the new manager would be giving them completely the wrong impression.

Clement got sacked by Derby so no way do I want him here, assistant manager maybe.

Mancini is just a no.

Favre is interesting but why did he leave Borussia? Seems a bit odd that he's now on a free after all the good work he did.
