Whilst that's an interesting idea I don't think it's the best way for a new manager to start his tenure at all, think psychologically these players need a kick up the arse and to be put firmly in their place, letting them have a hand in the new manager would be giving them completely the wrong impression.

Clement got sacked by Derby so no way do I want him here, assistant manager maybe.

Mancini is just a no.

Favre is interesting but why did he leave Borussia? Seems a bit odd that he's now on a free after all the good work he did.

Quit after losing 5 games at season start. Not hired elsewhere....meant to have OCD and players get exhausted after a couple of seasons

So i read about him.

Mourinho & Pellegrini would be statement of intent appointments
De Boer, AVB, Favre type of appointments would be long term "projects"

Mourinho =Statement of intent

Pelligrini not done well at city on transfers or league expectations. Out of work in summer and smacks of an easy option.

De Boer with Bergkamp etc backroom team and money to spend could be a master stroke.

I have just had a brainwave. What about Marc Wilmots the Belgian manager, surely after the Euro's he'd fancy a new challenge. Not only that he would surely keep Rom interested for another year and buy loads of boss Belgians.

Utter domination.

He had a bad start to the season, like Klopp last season/mourinho this season sort of bad. Lost the first five games and quit after that, and has been free since then.

Pellegrini would most definitely be statement of intent appointment.
De Boer is promising manager but he wouldnt be bringing Bergkamp with him. He will stay in Ajax

Just to play devils advocate re De Boer, would it not be more sensible to move some of our own coaches up into the first team as Ajax do? Possibly Unsworth/and o Sheedy? There might even be a chance to get Stubbs/Weir back involved?
Alternatively this alongside maybe 1 person from Ajax?

We have a better chance of winning the league than they do.

Honestly.

We're much richer and out big clubs are less dominant.

This is basically it. Next season before Moshiri arrived we have a big budget than Sevilla, not withstanding what they offered us. IN our league there are no teams on a par with Real Madrid, Athletico & Barca. Leicester and Spurs are winning our league.

This has to be balanced against him giving up a lot of the good work he has done at Sevilla so it would be a hard sell but there is a chance.

Mate, i honestly have no idea why you are nagative constantly about Pelligrini, look at his career, Managed Real Madrid (and achieved at the time their greatest ever points total in la liga and their record ever goals scored total) was only replaced as they wanted Mourinho otherwise unlike most madrid managers he wouldn't have been sacked - only lost the title due to barca having possibly their best ever team that season under Guardiola

Qualified for and then reached the semi finals of the CL with Villareal a small spanish team who came out of nowhere and entirely with a team he built from the ground

Qualified and reached the QF with Malaga - another small spanish team who although often people go on about how much money he spent like he manged a PSG type buying of success - actually look at the figures of what they actually spent whilst he managed them and you will be surprised just how little it was - it made waves for two reasons only, ONE - Malaga are such a small team that when they spent money comparable to the mid tier spanish teams like valencia, sevilla etc then it was remarked on like some mega cash spend - which is honestly wasn't, and TWO - it made headlines due to Malaga being banned for FPP breahces - which everyone without bothering to find out assumed it was because they had spent a gazzilion pounds on players - in actuality they breached FPP not on transfre spending or for the wages being in breach of what was allowed, but for not being able to pay the clubs outstanding debts and the players wages.

Managed man city to a semi final and one they have a great chance in, won a league and two cups in 3 seasons, and had this season in the league pulled from under him by the appointing of Pep when they where sat 3 points behind leicester - the announcement completely derailed their season

Pelligrini a man who ahs reahced 1 SF, 1 QF and another SF - possibly final as they are still in it, with 3 completely different teams in his career, and your not keen on him because he hasn't won every signle thing with man city...

I prefer Mourinho as i have stated , but Pelligrini would be a massive statement to appoint him as manager and would be so far above the level of De Boer, Cocu etc

You make a good case but I just can't get on board with this. Lets challenge this a little.

1) Real Madrid. Had one of the best squads in the world, may have scored goals and points but won nothing. It wasn't due to Mourinho, he was sacked because he failed.

2) Malaga. Did a good job, but had lots of money to spend. Again didn't win anything.

3) Villareal. A truly outstanding job but it was over 10 years ago now.

4) City. Won 1 league title in 3 years in a period when the top teams have been in turmoil. United have struggled, Chelsea have struggled. Champions league record of 1 semi final and two group stage exits, given their resource is very poor.
The season he won the league I would say it was more handed to them.

All of the above indicated a downward trajectory to me. His defence looks all over rt. place to me given the money he's spent. He remains very reliant on players Mancini bought (i.e. Silva, Company, Aguero & Toure).

Finally age is important in all of this. We are in more of a mess than we like to think. It's recoverable but he is an older man now. I think we need to get a manager who can be here potentially longer term and take a couple of years to sought the mess out.

I also feel as a football club our strengths are not suited to a Pellgrini type manager. Even with Moshiri's money I am doubtful we will be eating off the top table. Our strength has been an adept scouting system and strong youth academy. He will not maximise them.

If you compare his record to De Boers it does not stand up. Compare his record at City and Real Madrid to De Boers in Ajax (both at similar size clubs in terms of spending compared to the rest of the league). De Boer won 3 titles in a row, Pellegrini scraped over the line once in 4 years.

pelligrini team don't do pressing, in this league if you don't press and harass the ball back, you're not going to go far.

Arsenal
Man city

2 perfect example of lack of pressing

And then you look at teams with high intensity and pressing

Leicester
Spurs
Liverpool

Can we forget Pellegrini now?
