I know people will say ........ why the FFFF would he leave them as Champions Elect and Guaranteed Champions League football next season............ but..... I would love us to push heaven and earth for Ranieri.

It always has been mate, well apart from the smith era when we binned the underage teams, the players we lost FFs.

I'm interested in that opinion mate, what model would you go for and why? It's a departure from I suppose our historical culture.
I'm not saying we bin those teams at all - but the priority is getting the best first team coach possible, proven to be able to build winning teams - that would then filter down.

De Boer, 45, had last week hinted he would be open to talks with the Swans to see if they could persuade him to make the Premier League plunge.

“First you have to see what the plan is at a club and what I and the people I would take with me could add to it,” De Boer said.

“The last club I was linked with was Swansea City, I have had no contact with them at this time.

“But what if these people paint me a pretty picture that they are in that category of clubs with which I could do something beautiful? Like clubs such as Tottenham and Liverpool.

“Those are the sort of clubs with which you would want to work. But the most important thing would be the feeling I get.”

Frank De Boer could legitimately be delighted at the prospect of managing Everton.

Who do fancy mate if you had to pick one?

Told you, Jose.

Dont want a young promising manger. Thats all most are. Young. And most dont turn out that promising.

Top football managers breath a rarified air that most folk dont. Having a few decent months, or a decent season at a Norwich or a Bournemouth bears no resemblance to managing the club I firmly believe Everton can return to being.

Reckon United, Chelsea, or Arsenal are tracking young Eddie? No, me neither.

I'd say Utd and Arsenal are aware of him mate, if I'm being honest.

Think Jose would be a god awful appointment myself mate, be entertaining though.

It's great having so many contrasting opinions on the forum.

He was mentioned in the press for the Chelsea job.

I rate him.

Commence operation get Eddie Howe.

An awful appointment? The most successful manager currently available on the planet? lol

Eddie Howe simply doesn't fit the brief if we're looking to move up a level, as he'd not have the draw that we need in terms of player recruitment.

Oh I am sure they know him.

Just not in a million years would they trust him with their club until he has done it somewhere else. A club with aims higher than finishing 16th that is.

He might be the real deal, sake, I thought Martinez was.

Jose would not just be a manager, it would be a statement of intent. Will we get him? Not a clue, and certainly not if Charlton and Fergie drop dead tomorrow.

Reckon it might appeal to him mind.

Ask Burnley fans if they would want Howe back, not particularly impressive in the 2 seasons at Burnley. I cannot for the life of me understand why he keeps getting mentioned .

Howe, at the moment, is managing players who were in the championship last season - and doing a good job. That doesn't mean he has the ability to keep a squad of champions league wannabes happy and playing at 100%.
If we can, I really hope we go for the most successful (in terms of trophies) boss we can get. It's the only way to attract the kind of ambitious players we want in our team.

I believe so yes, I also think Everton would be used as a pawn in a broader game of Mouhino politics, he's never put down roots anywhere for more then a couple of seasons, I wouldn't have us prostitute ourselves for Mourhino to keep his media profile high. He wouldn't develop the club in any way.

You don't know, what the brief is mate - your presuming, that's what you want in a manager, it's clear from the diversity of opinion in the thread that not everyone wants the club driven by a first team coach, or firt team player recruitment, that's why asked people's opinions on the model. If this season has proven anything it's that player recruitment and finance, can be out done by good holistic structures, developing players, coaching to maximum ability and developing a club.

But Mourhino for a couple of years would be entertains media wise, not so much in a footballing sense.

Time for us to go big. Catterick was already a success when we took him off Sheffield Wed. All the rest since then have been ones with potential and only HK delivered.

Wasn't Walter Smith the most successful manager in Europe or something when he came to us?
