That whole article makes no sense to me, why on earth would anyone ask Mourinho to wait another year? What if LVG wins the league next season are they still going to want Mourinho?? A few weeks in football can be a long time never mind a year! Sports 'journalism', with a couple of exceptions is laughable in this country.
LVG's contract expires at the end of next season

this one is good too!

“The individual cleverness of the players was missing when I first got here (in 2006 as a youth team coach),” he said. “The individual action at the highest level is essential. We are now in training much more individualized. That is so important.”

Alternatively, and two years more recently...

"Truly, if De Boer genuinely believes Sunday’s opponents were ultra-defensive and that Ajax deserved to win, he is delusional. Hopefully he is just lying for the cameras.

This is typical of the coach this season – he is completely unwilling to acknowledge the failings of his strategy and his team. Excuses such as the age of his squad, defensive nature of opponents and bad luck have been used this term."

"The problem is, though, that football is constantly evolving and developing. While De Boer's methods and execution showed signs that this was a precocious coaching talent, the last two years of his career have shown his limitations, or at least that he has stagnated in his development.

It has become evident that he is still relying on the same ideas which saw him emerge as a future coaching star, regardless of how unsuited to it are the players at his disposal."

...just saying.

@The Esk , can you show me on the dolly where the new appointment will touch us. Will it appeal to our minds? Our hearts? Or a more, erm, sensual location?

Frank De Boer has earned Ajax profits of £60m in transfers since being appointed, brought many players through his youth set-up and won title after title. His first job with money, with Moshiri, a big league, with us, it is just mouthwatering to me.

-60m!

Frank De Boer's biggest transfer while in charge of Ajax is £4.5m......De Boer IN!

I honestly don't think I'll be overly disappointed whoever it is. I'll just be relieved that Martinez has gone!

Shocking and sad really that I should think that way.

i just hope it's not Pellegrini, all that money spent on players at City and they barely have a shot in two games.

Yep, it'd be like what we've been accustomed to with Martinez - massive underperformance, fragile defence and a talking up of our underachievements. Pellegrini just doesn't fit with Everton for me.

I also think it's unfair that some will use a lack of success in Europe as a stick to beat him with.

The financial restraints he's used to dealing with means it's extremely difficult to compete in Europe against clubs that spend what he can only dream of.

The only thing he can do is compete against clubs on a similar footing in his domestic league, and it's 5 titles in 6 years isn't it?

Get him here with Moshiri's millions and he'd make a far better fist of a European adventure.
