People having at crack at Mourinho and his rampant egomania.

Surely that's exactly why he should be venerated?

Sooner an arrogant winner than a mild-mannered loser, yes? However remote the chances of getting him, any possibility should be explored by the board and all angles covered.

Sick of all this "nicey-nicey" factor which has seen us barren of honours for over twenty years. Nastiness wins.....Ferguson, Mourinho.... cut from the same cloth.

I reckon LVG will ride it out for another year tbh... If he does then the meeting with Pochettino takes up another slant that they are lining him up for post LVG.

If they ask Mourinho to wait a year there isn't a chance in hell he would.
Stop getting no your hopes up. José Mourinho will not be our next manager.

Sadly.

Hahaha.

A team for the next ten years.

We've actually seen this not work AT OUR VERY CLUB. We had a team created over 11 seasons by one manager, with an underlying sense of fight and pride being the one consistent quality.

It took the next manager 18 months to begin to cut that out and 3 years- your time line, not mine - after he started the club is now an unrecognisable mess.

Yeah, infinitely better than three years of trophies mate, that's some sound logic.

Mate some of our fans theory's totally astound me! It's like they like we're crap and don't want to win anything again and pludder along.

He will burn all his bridges within 3 years like he always does, his own ego is far more important than any club to him, he wastes money just buying random players then farming them out on loan, he lets players like De Bruyne and to a lesser extent Lukaku when they had no strikers, he lost the dressing room at Chelsea because he thinks it's all about him.

There is no doubt he wins trophies his record proves that but a 3 year Mourinho reign here isn't what we need in my honest opinion. Do we have 3 years of him coming in and then walking away to manage Utd after using us as a toy whilst waiting and do you think if he came then Utd or Madrid came calling he wouldn't drop us in a heart beat for them? I want a manager who wants to come and build a team for the next 10 years.

I'd happily take him coming, getting a team of high profile winners and then doing one after 3 years, after more than likely winning something. As for farming them out on loan... it's good business. How much have Chelsea made from buying youngsters then selling them on?

And you mean like moyes did? That argument is irrelevant and applies to 95% of the clubs who do well. You have to hope these clubs don't come knocking for your player or manager. No reason not to take them if you have the chance.

...if De Boer was a done deal I would expect him to be unbackable at this stage rather than a shade odds on. Bits of blue on Oddschecker for Mourinho, Moyes and Pelligrini.

I wonder if it will be a sacking with a caretaker in charge for the weekend.

Where have I said it is guaranteed?

Our chances would be massively enhanced with a coach of Mourinho's calibre - those are the facts. Not guaranteed - enhanced.

Three years is about right for most major coaches these days. We could always "ride out the storm" and give Martinez a few more years if you like with this excellent philosophy of yours?

Nah, you're alright.

You're talking as if De Boer would be a long term plan. Four years and he's moved from his boyhood club. So who else would stay long term?

People act like there's Fergusons and Wengers all over the place. How long did the best managers in our history stay for? This view of a super media friendly manager who just gets Everton and will usher in a boss brand of football that will sweep all before it using academy players and will never end is an absolute pipe dream. You want to win in the modern premier league? Either get your hands dirty and pay the big money for top players and top coaches or go home. This idea of a purer philosophy and the Everton way is a complete fabrication. Mourinho should be at the top of our list. He jibbed Chelsea twice Madrid and Inter all off so why would we be precious about that? That's what comes with the territory of employing the best manager in the world. Either get ready for success or go home. Sacrificing winning in order to maintain some nicey nice image we supposedly have is ridiculous in my opinion.

In some ways you're not wrong.

The flip side is that IF we pulled it off and got Mourinho in, even if only for a couple of years, our profile in world football, with fans, media, players, future managers and sponsors would absolutely skyrocket.

He'd most likely only be at the club for two years, but it would be the most effective and efficient springboard back towards where we want to be.

I get that, I know it will elevate us but once he goes can you imagine Sky and the likes "well Everton couldn't expect to keep hold of a manager of Mourinhos calibre could they, it was always just a stop gap etc" i just think he will make the whole club unstable because of the uncertainty that would surround him being there. The whole world knows he wants the Utd job and they will eventually come calling.

If he stayed for 3 years (hypothetically) he wont win us the league in that time (or very unlikely) people will use the Leicester scenario but we all know that's highly unlikely to be repeated again any time soon. He may win us a cup but would you really rather us sacrifice getting in the right manager in now and giving HIM. the funds available to rebuild us and stabilise us and move us forward to a 3 year (again hypothetical) roller coaster with Mourinho only for him to walk away once he's done playing with us for a "bigger" club which then leaves us with potentially all Moshiris investment spent and an extremely expensive probably over paid squad full of egos who may not want to play for a new manager.

It's all about opinions mate I'm not saying mines right it's just my opinion but I want us to build something, we have a chance here with this investment Moshiri is about to put in but I don't think he can sustain regular investment like he's about to give I think it'll be one initial splurge then we'll be back on a budget albeit it a better one than years gone by and I'm not sure I trust Mourinho with that money. How many players have Chelsea got on loan admittedly he's not signed all but he let De Bruyne go because he fell out with him, Lukaku when they had no strikers practically, Cuadrado (sp) springs to mind. He doesn't always get it right.

Id expect that tbh, doubt we have sorted all negotiations - even if we have a clear favourite at this time.

If Dunc goes with Martinez, id expect Unsworth as caretaker on sunday.

You wrote at the end "3 years of trophies" implying it was a given.
