When I first read of the Koeman stuff earlier this week after Esk posted it I was a little bit underwhelmed.
As the week has gone on I have warmed to it more. If we don't take Koeman now, he will end up in a top job sooner rather than later if he carries on like he has been doing with Southampton.
As Evertonians who are passionate, we turn our noses up at people we think aren't good enough for our ambitions for the club which is only natural, we are all very precious about our club. But outside of Everton he is perceived as very decent, and let's be honest, in 2 seasons in England he has finished above us both times.
As already posted by others, he has basically lost the majority of his best players each season yet is still looking like he has secured European football for them again.
Maybe he could bring in Fraser Forster, now that would be a coup!
The only manager who could come in and change the mentality overnight though is still Mourinho, but that's just too good to be true.
So, for me Koeman is less of a gamble than De Boer or Cocu. He knows the league, seems to have an eye for a player and I am sure if the likes of Stones stays, he will be learning off one of the best defenders in Europe over the last 20 years. He was a sublime footballer and commands respect for his achievements.
