Thing is that lad saying he has better options might actually be right, I dunno, I think we can do better myself but there might also be better options for him as well, either way I can't see Southampton hanging onto to him as they seem to be a stepping stone.

he'd be the absolute worst appointment out of our real candidates.

Only manager i know whose side leaks nearly as many goals as martinez.. at a much bigger level.

@bluestevon made this post a while back that pretty much debunks this assertion:

13/14 season - conceded 37 - second best defensive record in the league that season (only Chelsea better)
14/15 season - conceded 38 - fifth best defensive record in the league (Chelsea, Arsenal, United, and Saints better)
15/16 season - currently 34 conceded - currently the joint 4th best defensive record in the league (Leicester, Spurs, United (who have played a game less are better - Arsenal are tied).

Over the past 3 seasons only one team - Chelsea has conceded less goals than Pelligrinis City team

109 conceded in 3 seasons by Pelligrinis City team
Chelsea - 105 (1 game less played)
United - 110 (1 game less played)
Arsenal - 111
Liverpool - 143 (1 game less played)
Everton - 137 (1 game less played)
Spurs - 130

His Real Madrid team cocneded 35 goals - second best in the league that season
Mourinho took over cocneded 33, 32 and 42 (average of 36 per season) in his 3 years in charge - second each season like Pelligrini was to Barcalonas defenseive record.

At Villareal
04/05 - 37 conceded - 4th best in the league
05/06 - 39 conceded - 5th best in the league
06/07 - 44 conceded - 8th best in the league
07/08 - 40 conceded - 2nd best in the league
08/09 - 54 conceded - 8th best in the league

Malaga
10/12 - 68 conceded - 19th best in the league - note on this he took over the team part way through the season with them having already conceded 21 in 9 games - so his record in charge was 47 conceded in the remaining 29 games - a significant improvement over what they had been scheduled to cocnede that season with the old manager (a quarter of the season having been played they where on pace to cocnede roughly 89 goals that season)
11/12 - 53 conceded - 11th best in the league
12/13 - 50 conceded - 5th best in the league

Finished conceding 38 or less in 6 out of `12 seasons managing in Europe, finished with the 5th or better defense in the league in 8 out of his 12 seasons.

One thing that cant be said is his teams are 'poor' defensively

Now on the other hand if we look at goals scored - City have topped the league all 3 season he has been in charge
Real Madrid broke their club record of goals scored the 1 season he managed them

To me that strikes me as a manager who has the perfect blend of attack/defesne and doesn't leave his team wide open to play attractive football...

It looks like Pellegrini is out of the running anyway, but it's not quite accurate to bang on about how poor his defensive work has been.

If Moshiri thinks it's Koeman, then I'll back that call and see what happens.

I've got absolutely no doubt he would improve us.
Totally agree. Moshiri seems like an astute man who will have in his employment some serious talent scouts. They must like what they see from Koeman, which is good enough for me.

Nope, you don't need anything other than the arse from which you pull your opinions.

Just kidding. I don't like Pellegrini either, but because he looks like my grandmother about an hour after she died.
no mate it happens to be my eyes.

The same eyes that have seen pellegrini struggle in the league all season to the point where he is barely getting to champions league and getting tonked by southampton

just that tho

Please stop calling me mate. Yes, Pellegrini has done poorly. I just recalled a forum member breaking down his stats to show that his defensive record isn't as bad as is being made out. No need to get sensitive.
