I just hope we don't get Pellegrini, even though we could end up with someone worse, it's a case of knowing what we'll get with him, we'll never win a derby and we'll go on a cup run and end up getting beat in the semi's or final because the other team just had more determination and motivation.

And he said on sky today that it's not about results or something on those lines, did anybody else hear that.

For those concerned about Koeman, just imagine this scene at Goodison next season:

I see Koeman throwing his arms up in frustration after conceding an injury time penalty to a Jordan Henderson dive and Sammy Lee not being able to help himself.

I want Koeman. But not with that little ferret in tow.

And if up to me, that would be absolutely non-negotiable.

This is a massive opportunity. I know (as you can tell by my other posts) that I am the eternal optimist, but the names/managers out there that are either available or even being mentioned in the same sentence as the 'next Everton manager' have to instill us with confidence.

The more I think about Koeman, the more I like the idea. I was set on De Boer but he has no Premier League experience. So with that in mind, the aforementioned Koeman, Mourinho, Pellegrini and dare I say it even Benitez's of this world are attractive options. Some more than other I agree. I would still take De Boer, or Bielsa or Karanka or Favre. See what I mean. Mouth watering.

But Everton have an opportunity here. The words 100 Million for transfers as well a a 5 million salary for a new, exciting coach, are numbers and possibilities Everton and their supporters have dared to dream about since the inception of the Premier League.

Welcome Mr. Moshiri. And IF we sell the likes of Lukaku and Stones (I would rather not), there will be more money there. And then there is the TV money.

Our club has been crying out for this opportunity for decades.

Lets all see what happens this first year eh? First things first, get he right man in, re build the team with better players in key positions and strenght in depth in other areas of the team, then play exciting attacking football with a good solid defence.

COYB.

On the subject of Koeman. Here's the league table since Jan 1st.

That table is actually pretty interesting.

Firstly,RKs achievements at Southampton this season have slipped under my radar a lot.I was aware that there were doing OK on a fairly limited budget but that was it.

Secondly, how the hell are we so high up! We've had a pretty miserable time since Christmas. God help those teams below us!

And thirdly, despite all the media hype,The RS league form under Klopp has been a bit meh!

Here is my shortlist.I was going to put Jose Mourinho at number 1 but i think he's ego would be too big.I could easily see him throwing a tantrum and resigning mid season. So my shortlist is 1 Manuel Pellegrini 2 Ronald Koeman and 3 Frank De Boer.Any out of David Moyes Mark Hughes Martin O'Neill and Rafael Relegation Benitez can go and do one.

Other than Porto, he's walked into clubs that have handed him an unlimited cheque book with squads that were already near and/or of a Champions League level.

Do you really see him taking on a "rebuilding" job, as in our case? The biggest challenge I'd bet he'd be willing to take on would be winning the CL with PSG - again, with unlimited funds at his disposal.

I've asked before in this thread cause I'm not clever enough to find it but has anyone got any information on what Mourinho spent at inter as I don't think it was that much at all??

Jose and his ego WINS things WINS things. God that's what we need

Koeman wasnt and isnt my first choice, Jose is mine.

But as i mentioned yesterday i think its a safe appointment (Koeman) but i am interested to see what he could do with the rumoured £100m and not having to flog his best players every season. If anything Koeman could be here for 4/5yrs get us to 4th/5th place and ultimately put us in a better position to attract an even better manager. Can Koeman take us to that next level? Im not completely sure, can Jose? Most definitely.

With regard to this talk of the new manager having £100 million to spend on new players , I presume that that is after sales ( if I'm wrong and it's £100 million plus sales , that's a gamechanger)

If we think that Lukaku and Stones are going and that brings in say £80 / 90 million then Mr Moshiri is only making a net spend of £20/10 million which with the TV money is hardly impressive.

However we clearly need a significant rebuild with a new keeper , centre half , central midfielder , left midfielder and back up right back BEFORE any sales.

There is also a lot of dead wood in the squad with many established players coming to the end of their careers and others that need to be shipped out.

To do that and replace Lukaku and Stones is going to be very difficult.

Koeman has demonstrated his ability in this regard and still produce a team playing decent and for the most part winning football.

He is a man that will command respect from our existing unfit and underperforming group .

I suspect Jose is a pipe dream so for me that makes Koeman the natural choice and No.1 target.
