Obviously you are right, but we live in dreams.
Benitez tho.....

He's quickly becoming a managerial whore - offering himself anywhere they'd take him. Although that lot across the park would absolutely go bonkers if he came here seeing as though he said he'd never manage us.

Are we back to that whole discussion on whether we're ambitious or not?

If we don't try, we will not know what he thinks. For all we know, he might find the setup more conducive than Sevilla or any of the "bigger clubs". He's a smart guy, he knows good setups and poisoned chalices and I don't see many better easy setups around Europe.

#JustHireEmery

I think Koeman would be as sensible appointment as Emery, to be honest.

Just opinions though.

Checked the Southampton forum earlier, they think Ron wont come here and its a sidways move and makes no sense, asking what can we offer what they cant.

Objectively speaking mate, that's spot on.

We are a bigger club in stature/history, and now will probably have more money to spend.

But purely from a footballing perspective, and objectively speaking, it isn't a huge step up.

Jose didn't really have an unlimited chequebook at Inter nor with his 2nd spell at Chelsea. Still won Big Pots.

To be fair I remember most of us on here cringing at it even before it got unveiled.

It's another step-up, isn't it? Every manager we've employed has had to step up from a lowlier position. Would be nice to employ a manager who's coming from a major background to step us up.

Haha I thought I said Emery in my post, not Koeman!

I think I'd be happy with Koeman, as somebody quite rightly said earlier when Moyes left we were looking at Stubbs or Martinez we've certainly moved on from that whilst dropping in the league

I'd have a three man shortlist:

Jose > De Boer > Koeman

Start at Jose, if he says no, he says no but start at the top and work down. Make sure you get one of the three.

I'd be made up with any of those three, obviously the higher the list the better but I wouldn't go for anyone other than those.

Jose would be short-term yes, but fantastic for those couple of years.
De Boer over Koeman for me, as I reckon Frank is more long-term than Koeman. Can't see Koeman sticking around for five or so years, just get the impression he's waiting on something else all the time.

Ronald DeBoer just "interviewed" by that weapon Brazil on Talkshite .

When he could get a word in edgeways he said " Frank is interested if Everton are interested " and "Denis ( Bergkamp ) will be staying at Ajax - "he doesn't travel !" was his attempt at humour.

He went on to talk about what Koeman or his brother could do at Goodison.

Reading between the lines he was telling us ( I think ) that Koeman is first choice and his brother was back up plan.

And Tuchel, Pereira & Ragnick. The first two are Definitely comparable to De Boer the only difference with Koeman is that he's managed in England. Don't think it's the big step up everyone's heralding to be honest.
