Whoever comes in will have to know how to play with high energy, close down quickly, marathon runners, get the ball forward very quickly to speed merchants, with one maybe two players that can turn a game and have a striker that can finish. A new manager will have to assemble a defence that is extremely tight and hope they are the same faces week in and week out. If they do not introduce such a style then we have no chance of top 6.

Koeman has experience in the premier league and that is a big plus. Pelligrini does, but I think he has failed massively at City this season with some of the best talent in the league. De Boer, doesn't know the premier league so is a gamble, same applies to Emery.

I would like to see the choice between Koeman or Emery.

On TalkSport, Andy Gray saying Mark Hughes would be great for Everton.

Steve Watson saying Eddie Howe and Sean Dyche are good options.

Jesus. Why do broadcasters pay these people to give such ill-informed, generic opinions?

Some research tells me that Koeman is now in charge of his 8th club, as well as being an assistant manager at another. That seems a lot to me. In contrast FdB has had just the one club, suggests there may be more scope for progression while in the job here, although I am worried about the very public manner in which he seems to tout his services around.
FdB's playing career was mainly based around Ajax and Barcelona, so a great pedigree there. A few months back I remember thinking that I wanted our next manager to be the sum of 30% Moyes + 70% Martinez. This season just finished, Ajax (who threw the title away on the last day) conceded just 21 goals in 34 matches although I suppose you have to factor in it being a two-horse race and 'only' the Dutch league etc etc.

I've been appalled by the number of supposedly expert pundits who have come since the sacking saying it was inevitable and pointing out all RM's many faults but none of them had anything to say on the subject till gone 10pm on Wed night and were quite happy to sit on the fence committing to nothing beforehand other than the usual blah blah blah rubbish.

Most of the pundits are linking us to candidates who they would normally expect us to be after, it's our own fault really, our last two managers were pooled from Preston and Wigan.

Fair enough like, didn't mean it to sound, er, as an attack or something anyway.

I also wrote my reply and then realised we are essentially talking about the same thing from the other thread lol

No I know mate.

Haha and yes! We're agreeing though in principle on what we need I think, just you prefer De Boer, and I Koeman. I'd be happy with either.

Sean Dyche then? Or Chris Hughton?
The media sees us as having little ambition. This summer could change everything.

Yeah, same! So, in essence, we wrote a lot of words saying absolutely eff all, said the same things after that, both agreed with each other, and did it in two threads as well.

Everton, that.

Any manager has got to think we are a great prospect now with the talent we have - and 50-100m to spend. Why not Mourinho if the Utd job doesn work out?

Going forward, Moshiri is now the man running our club and Bill is history. I think this will help us attract the right manager. I always had a feeling that Bill's gushy old romantic luvvy routine of 'wonderful guy and incredible manager' was actually off-putting to a lot of serious candidates.

Need to add Flores to the list guys! I'd give him a season defo quality manager and is leaving watford at end of the season.
