There was nothing mediocre about finishing 4567 with no money on a regular basis, right now with money we are below mediocrity and have been for years.

Carragher is right in the sense that we have not had a manager with passion since Moyes, a manager who gets after teams and gets Goodison rocking, we have had fashionable managers who try and pop it about but it makes for a really flat matchday atmosphere.

We need passion and tempo and to stop thinking we are Barca because at this minute we simply don't have enough quality to break teams down trying to play total football.

Does any of the above mean I want Moyes? Not necessarily which is mainly due to how he spoke about us while at United, what I do want tho is the passion and tempo.
Well I’ve said this before and now this post is spot on. We simply don’t have the players to try and be man city mkII. Fancy tactics are not required to sort out this mess.

The top three candidates on sky bet are pretty underwhelming.David Moyes Eddie Howe or Mikel Arteta. We need to move on from Moyes imo.Eddie Howe has done great stuff at Bournemouth, while Arteta has no managerial experience, but is Guardiolas number 2 at City.Really out of the most realistic candidates, i'm very much undecided.Should we go with the solid proven and perhaps boring option in Eddie Howe, or take the gamble on Mikel Arteta?Perhaps Arteta with someone like Wenger as advisor could work.Personally myself, i think the board should put all the cards on the table, and try and get Pochetino.
I don't think that's as underwhelming a choice as what you think it might be.

(Arguably) the best manager in the world reckons he’ll be a fantastic manager, he was on Arsenal’s shortlist when he had 12 months less experience than he does now... but yeah, I’m sure he just puts cones out.
Guardiola also said that Ben Foden is the most gifted footballer he has ever seen.

We should not be hiring a manager based on a comment made by a Man City manager about his colleague and friend.

The way it has gone if Arteta came here he'd be out by the end of the season as we avoid relegation by a couple of points.

If he takes over from Pep he will be a world beating manager.

One plus for Arteta is if he gets and wants the Everton job his next job will be managing the Spain team, weird how that happens to our "failures".
In Fact I'm putting money on Silva for next Portugal manager.

Pep's obviously going to say that Arteta will be a great manager one day , he's not going to get asked the question and then say 'nah he's gonna be rubbish'

People need to stop trying to justify appointing Arteta as a gamble just because Silva, Koeman etc. were gambles.

Did they work out? No. So should we persist with gambles? No.
Literally anyone we appoint is going to be a gamble though. Unless you happen to have a list of dead-certs handy?

I mean I suppose reappointing Allardyce is as close as there is. He’d be pretty much certain to steer us to safety, but I don’t think he’d be a road anyone would be keen to go back down?

Benitez? Maybe, but even him, we all know how much he loves the shower over the park, would he be TRULY motivated? And is he still at the level he was? Plus it would involve trading in what small amount of self respect we have left

There are no certainties that are both attainable and someone we’d want. Would Arteta be my first choice? No. But none of my “first choice” list would touch the job with a barge pole right now.
