You reckon?

When a manager chooses to leave one club for another in the same league, it almost always leaves a sour taste. There aren't too many occasions where managers leave a club for another and maintain a strong, friendly relationship with their previous fanbase.

I didn't really have a huge issue with how he left or that he expressed joy at leaving to be fair. The main issue I had was his conduct in pursuing Baines and Fellaini, even though I fully expected him to come back for them.

Fans have very long memories but Football moves on quickly. I wouldn't put it past Bill to persuade Farhad to give it Moyes till the end of the season at least.

I actually think Moyes would be a great appointment. Loves the club. Best manager we’ve had in a long while. Something to prove.

Ticks a lot of boxes, if not all of them. Would still be an unpopular choice with many too.

Not sure we’ll get a manager that doesn’t divide opinion anyway.
That's why we are in the position we are now. Sustained mediocrity from the chairman down over the last 3 decades. Moyes outstayed his tenure by years and since then the procession of abysmal losers has continued. If he comes back which I think is highly unlikely, it's a totally backward step and just maintains our "happy to be average in the prem" attitude. "Ticks a lot of boxes"..….which ones? Would be a terrible appointment.

The dream team for me would be Arteta and Cahill.

I don’t think the board would be progressive enough to take the risk though.

Moyes or Hughes would the boards choice.

Whatever though, it’s clear that Silva needs to be sent packing.

Am genuinely amazed that people think arteta is the answer. A bloke with zero managerial experience. The basis for this opinion is that he spent some time with pep putting out cones and looking bored on the city bench.

last thing we need is a complete gamble like that based purely on sentimentality.
Have you ever even seen Artetea on the training field, he does a lot more than just put out cones as you put it, he gets involved in all the training. Everybody has to start somewhere, perhaps you would prefer the experience of Allardyce or maybe Koeman or even keep Silva lots of experience there. Until he has been tried don't write him off, after all its only for 2 year to start with and anyway he may well prove you wrong. I also do not do sentimentality

I agree, considering how we’ve pretty much wasted the last 4/5 years on experienced but bang average managers, we are entering one of the important periods in our history and people want to go for an unproven manager just because they work with Pep and played here for a bit.

We all know our board at awful at planning and it’s pretty much guaranteed that Silva will go within a month and we will have no one lined up and Moyes will be back. Whether Arteta could possibly come with him with a look to taking over at some point.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Arteta was waiting to take over from Pep.

How? The lowest we finished under him was 8th in 2010. We finished 6th in his last year and 7th the 2 seasons prior.

Again, for me it's about an identity. The club doesn't have one right now and hasn't had one since Martinez.

We had an identity under Moyes and I think we could replicate that again. I suppose you're right in one respect, I'm suggesting Moyes because I don't think the club have the ambition or balls to appoint a 'proven winner'.

Moyes is a good solution. A cheap solution and one that I think could still lead to happier times. Ideally, we'd go out there and give Mourinho what he wants or tempt Van Gaal or Wenger to come in but we all know that it isn't going to happen.

Everton are not in a position to offer apprentice managers start ups.
We are currently giving managers less than 1 full season to prove themselves. That’s a big ask for someone’s first job.
We cannot keep destabilising the club or the inevitable will become fact.

May as well slit my wrists.

Arteta totally unproven as a manager and Cahill has done even less.

Moyes and Hughes are losers. Plus the way in which Moyes left should never be forgotten.
