I don't think Klopp or Guardiola would have the same success managing in League Two, in the same sense I don't believe that Micky Mellon would do well at a Liverpool or City.

I think Klopp would have some succes, his man management, the long ball plus a few injections and that League 2 team would win the Premier League with a record points haul after 4 years.

Know I'm in a minority here, but not sure if Ancelotti would be right for our club.
No doubting his credentials, his experience, but would he have the enthusiasm for our team ?
Also heard he brings in his family for club jobs, (Bayern), in this day and age you need a regimented, professionals, because your players need to be super fit in this league to even compete. Our team I'm my humble opinion has not been fit enough as the elite teams. Carlo has the reputation to attract the very top echelon of player to his previous top clubs he's worked for, at Everton he will not be able to attract that calibre of player. Hope I'm wrong, but can not see this ending well, not a popular feeling I know. Will we get the work rate off Carlo, only time will tell.

....odds shrinking again on Ancelotti, clear favourite with the bookies.

Moyes 11/10
Carlo 15/8

Come on down Mr Ancelotti, welcome to one of the Worlds greatest clubs. You’ll feel right at home. Steeped in history, best fans and soon to be best Stadium. With one of the best managers.

I am actually intrigued by this managerial search now more so with Ancelotti being the favourite and listening to Duncs ‘we deserve the best manager in the world’ quotes. It reassures me that even Everton, well Moshiri, wouldn’t be stupid enough to go back for dour dithering Dave now. Like a weight off my shoulders that.

The best managers have worked with some of the best staff. But he will have and get in some of his own elite back room staff. He may not be able to attract the top players, but he can get the players he has upto speed as he has in his previous clubs.
Because he brings his family, thats a negative?

I think if he were to come it would be sorted fairly quickly. My feeling is he won't be.

I think theissue is whether we give it to Duncan until the end of the season and if we do when the decision is made. If not, Moyes will be brought in on an Allardyce style contract. Just my opinion though.

You make valid points mate. However we will never know what were getting from any manager until we see them for a period of time. Carlo is elite manager he has won everything in football. Managed the biggest clubs in the world and the best players in the world. To come here yes we are a big club but not in the top bracket. Now he might like the challenge of getting us into that elite status like Poch with spurs. That challenge could be what he needs. He could come here for big pay day. We just don’t know until we see. Only thing for me is we have done to death the next upcoming manager and hasn’t worked. Maybe we need to try something different. Now with a fully strength team and decent manager I’d say we could give anyone a game. Carlo and Ferguson could be a good combo. Would I be surprised if it went all tits up no i wouldn’t this is Everton and anything is possible. But I am more confident with Carlo than any other manager we have been linked with. And not holding my breathe until I see him holding the Everton scarf.

Thats all a bit finger in the air tho isnt It mate? for all you know they could go them clubs and be massive successes just because they haven't managed at that level before doesn't mean they cant do it...?

Of course it is, because Klopp and Guardiola would never go to Tranmere and Liverpool or City wouldn't appoint Micky Mellon. So we'll never know.

My argument is that certain managers are specialists at certain things, horses for courses. Some managers are better at taking on high performing teams and getting that extra 1% out of them. Some managers are better at taking on mediocre teams and consistently improving them year on year. Some managers are better at taking on teams with poor quality, instilling a fighting spirit and a well organised system and getting the results necessary for the club to continue to exist.

Some managers have many strings to their bow and have been capable in their careers of doing many different types of projects. My argument is that I don't believe that the best managers in the world are necessarily going to be the best at all of those projects.

Much like Lewis Hamilton; Mourinho, Guardiola and Klopp work with the finest machines, surrounded by a team of the very best professionals, in the best environment and on the very best surfaces. If you stick them on a dirt-track in a Ford Cortina with a bald tyre, a broken wing mirror and faulty brakes, they'll do a decent job - but they'll struggle more than a bloke who's used to driving on dirt-tracks in sub-standard vehicles.

Even if, by some minor miracle, we've convinced the bloke that we're the right move for him at this stage of his career - I really don't think Ancelotti is the right man for us.

He's never had to manage a team at this level before, it requires a different skillset to managing a team of well-established, high quality players. Horses for courses, I don't think Klopp or Guardiola would have the same success managing in League Two, in the same sense I don't believe that Micky Mellon would do well at a Liverpool or City.

Who would've been a better fit? Based on that logic we should be going for Moyes or Big Sam as they're used to operating at this end of the table.
