Well, naturally, I like Eddie Howe. Mark Hughes is also not a terrible shout.

The primary issues with Moyes & Big Sam is that they've been here before and the fans perceive the club to be 'better' than both of them.

I think if you appoint a top manager a Guardiola, a Mourinho or an Ancelotti - you need to ensure they already have the tools and evironment to thrive.

They need to work with the best players to deliver trophies. If they are given the right tools and right environment, they inevitably deliver trophies almost every time.

That is why these managers are in such high demand. They are experts at squeezing the extra 1% out of high-performing teams. It would be interesting to see how Ancelotti got on in an environment where he is undoubtedly without the right tools and isn't in an environment already conducive to top quality Football.

Ancelotti hasn't worked with this kind of project before, so therefore the success he has had is barely applicable. As I said, it will be interesting to see how he get's on but he wouldn't be my 1st choice for those reasons.

...the Jokes Thread is in the Ale House forum, Matey.

You literally should be banned for all time mentioning Mark Hughes you silly silly man!

Mark Hughes has delivered exceptional results on this sort of project before at Blackburn.

He's not my choice, I was just asked, based on the logic I just described who would be applicable and, as he's done it before - he's one of them.

....really like the Arteta appointment from Arsenal. Rather than picking another from the manager Merry-go-round, they’re going for a young man who’ll be keen to succeed in his first job. Very progressive.

Saying Ancelotti isnt a better manager than Silva... brave shout
Ok but I actually said I didn't think he was a good manager for Everton, and my point at the end was that once we knew Silva wasn't 'it' we should have been searching for an upgrade. I think Ancelotti was still working for Napoli at that time.

I fear The Mosh will go for 'the least worst option'.

Would Ron Saunders be worse than Pullis? (Just a poor joke!)
Would Big Sam be worse than Tony?
Would Sparky be worse than Big Sam?
Would Moyes be worse than Duncan?
Would Alex Scott be worse than Mikel Arteta?

Let's go for the best. Unlikely.
Or Duncan week to week. Possible.
Or Strictlys Alex Scott. Distracting.

I confess that Ancelotti does not get me at all excited. He is not an Everton style manager, and will clash with Brands all the time. Moist - just no! Arteta a huge risk. Big Dunc, just waiting to get found out. The Howe's, Dyche's, Wilders of the world, please god no. I don't see a strong manager available right now and frankly think it was incredibly stupid to let Silva go without lining up a better manager first.
Either way we need some back up in the January window for CB,CDM and striker and sell some of the dead wood. Brands can do that on his own.
I honestly dont think there is a good solution here. Letting Ferguson carry on game by game will likely prove a problem when the bubble bursts.
We'd still be in the bottom three with Silva still in place, he had to go.
