NFL 2023 season

I think it’s pretty much inevitable that the Chiefs three peat next season. Without question they will upgrade the receiver position significantly and the Defense is clearly nails even without Jones. Add to that the insane drive of Reid/Mahomes it looks like history will be made

They will go in favourites, and they deserve it, but its absolutely ridiculous to say its inevitable a year in advance!

A couple of injuries, losing a couple of players in free agency, a loss of form, an unlucky decision or bounce of the ball, or another team makes a big improvement, and we could easily have another winner.

Chris Jones was superb yesterday. Losing him would weaken any side.

Uh no, having Shanahan is exactly why you can get rid of the decent but not great QB and take the chance of finding someone better instead of overpaying Purdy.
And he will keep stabbing them in the heart at money time. This is habitual. How are you playing for the Super Bowl title and your players don’t know how overtime works?

They aren’t in overtime if the QB can make a single play over the course of 60 minutes!

I don’t really want to get into a Shanahan discussion because frankly I can’t see a discussion with someone saying to fire him being worthwhile, but on Purdy I think it is clear he cannot be paid like and elite guy. So the 49ers have one more year to figure that out.

I mean, I know they won’t get rid of Shanahan barring some true bravery from John Lynch… but he’s ironically a lot like Andy Reid with the Eagles. Great at scheming up offense, gets the most out of limited players, and a total disaster in game management. I could see him having to get fired down the road and landing somewhere else before he gets over the hump.

I know what you are saying but I have just seen a team that was embarassed on Christmas Day by the Raiders to the point I was seriously concerned they wouldn't even make the playoffs, but who by sheer force of will embraced their destiny to win the Super Bowl. I have never seen a more determined QB in my life, and yes that includes Brady. He will be thinking about the threepeat all offseason. He is literally obsessed with being the most accomplished QB ever - a threepeat would arguably make him that already since no one has ever done it.

Do you think Mahomes will match or better Brady's number of Superbowl wins?

I can't see it.

Well, at this point, it took Brady 10 years to get another Super Bowl after his 3rd, so I would say a Super Bowl next year seals Mahomes as the best even in terms of overall accomplishment.

Hanging around for 10 years as a perennial playoff loser like Brady did, until things turn around, doesnt prove as much as some think it does, IMO.

The Eagles probably shouldn’t have gotten rid of Andy Reid!

You never know though, Brady’s best stretch of individual play was during those ten years he didn’t win. NFL has never been conventional.

I think he gets off far too lightly with his playoff failure in those 10 years. Some games they had no business losing they ended up blowing in humiliating fashion. The Eli Super Bowls as one example. Losing as a 14-2 team at home to the Jets in the divisional in 2010 as 10 point favourites. Losing to the Ravens as 8 point favourites at home another. The 38-34 disaster to Manning in Indy where he blew a 21-3 lead.

There are several others.

The only thing not conventional is Brady's career. Lets see if Mahomes goes on that style of drought. Not a chance.
