NFL 2024 Season

Needs 3-4 years + a damn good supporting cast. Bo Nix is better and I think Bo Nix is capt staredown.

I'm actually not too high on any of these QBs.

1. Williams - positives Bears slowly appear to be building a decent offense - negatives: bad against a pass rush, really bad

2. Daniels - positives: athletic negatives: took a while, washington's OL (once good) is not. Needs a long term committment and we are in the throw the qb out about 18-24mo and draft another era.

3. Maye - positives: looked like sure fire No.1 pick 2 years ago, like he was freaking great. negatives: terrible back half of last season, the Pats literally have nothing: see Bryce Young, you are just throwing him to the wolves. He might be the best prospect and give the state of the Patriots the least likely to succeed. Sit him for a long while, maybe throw him in game 14 or something.

4. Penix - just seems similar to Geno Smith. Geno Smith was a late bloomer who started balling in his 30s. Well Kirk Cousins contract ends when Penix turns 30.

5. JJ McCarthy - I think Darnold is a better player (honestly think Darnold just really bounced to bad situtations). Also (flagged for reddit) but r/the_darnold is incredible. Why draft him, improve the OL, if Darnold sucks you'll get a top 10ish pick.

6. Bo Nix - maybe he can do what he did his sr. year dunno.

I was impressed by Daniels’ accuracy and read progression last year. I don’t watch a lot of CFB so I don’t have a balanced view but he could be good.

He also could bust and I don’t know how to read them. Burrow might have had the best accuracy ever for a CFB qb, he was like a cheat code. Jamarcus Russell couldn’t read the alphabet, he was probably the worst qb I’ve ever watched. Daniels is more Burrow than Russell but it’s a very hard transition to pro ball.

I said a few times pre draft that I had Trubisky and Daniel Jones vibes

Mates laughed it off as lazy because of UNC/Duke but eh, I think it’s not far off base

I watched Daniel Jones in a bowl game (live) and was unimpressed. Just average, the kind of guy that needed 2-3 years as a backup. Hopefully that’s not who you’ve got in Maye.

He’s not gonna go deep from what I’ve read, so we’ll probably go in for another WR.

Gonna have to watch a highlight clip of Coleman

No, he's the short and intermediate option which you desperately need. There was a lot of weird talk about it, but the Bills/Chiefs exchange was a win for both teams imo. Chiefs got the burner they need to replace MVS as the straight up deep threat, Bills got picks and the best remaining receiver to start filling out what is an almost vacant receiver room. Unless you're only there to take the top off a defence, speed is the most overrated receiver attribute there is. Everyone runs more or less the same speed when a mouthy cornerback is groping you and fondling your bollocks. You need someone who will make contested catches, because thats what most of them will be

I still think Darnold will start the season. This is his chance to finally prove he is a decent QB.

I was expecting the Vikings to get a guard with the second first round pick but happy with Dallas Turner.

Round 7 Bills

Travis Clayton
England

Pre-Draft Analysis

Clayton is a former soccer and rugby player, who is a member of the International Pathway Program. He is a developmental prospect, but he ran a 4.79 40 at 307 pounds, so he has an intriguing skill set. -- Steve Muench

Draft grades are inherently nonsense. There was a fair few baffled by the Detroit Lions offseason activity last year but look at them now. As much as you can speculate how someone might do in the NFL, the fact is there are far more busts than wins and absolutely nobody can say with any degree of certainty how a draft will work out for any team

What you find is that teams are obsessed with measureables. Speed in particular. The problem is there are a dozen speedsters on every roster which cancels it out.
