Saints now just one win from locking up the NFC's top seed. Last time that happened? 2009 season, and we all know what happened at the end of that. :D

NFL QB TIERS

1 Brady, Brees, Rodgers (very clear)

2 Rivers, Wilson, Mahomes (yes!), Roethlisberger, Luck, Wentz, Ryan (there are levels here, but too close to differentiate too much)

3 Stafford, Goff, Cousins, Dalton, Prescott, Watson, Flacco, Smith, Foles, Newton, Carr (there are levels here, and all have been great at times, but they're little more than bang average)

TBD Trubisky, Mayfield, Winston (I'm not sold yet)

Blake Bortles Tier

This is a pretty accurate assessment. I could make a long and boring argument for Wilson to at least be alone in the next tier, but as long as Pete Carroll is his head coach I don't think he will ever be viewed that way.

He's done that too much over the years and has paid the price physically. I actually think he's either been told to run less or is afraid to run as often. Besides, I don't think he can throw with his feet.

I don't mean run, I mean use his feet as part of his throwing motion. His throws are entirely above the waist and his feet are in weird spots. Maybe he can learn to use them in a coordinated way to make exceptional passes (like Rodgers or Mahomes) but he's basically throwing with half his body.

I initially had Rivers Wilson and Mahomes as tier 2, but it's hard to say who goes where. Systems do matter for results as well.

Wentz is OK but Foles is probably better. With Wentz's injury history don't be shocked if the eagles let him go as a FA or don't resign him. Supposedly he's asking for 30+M/year (he'll probably get it he's a QB, after all Jimmy G got 25+M, so good luck w/ that uh Raiders)

He's somewhere in that 7th-12th best zone. He's pretty good (but gets injured), and at 22M is on what is for QBs a cap friendly contract.

I can agree that the middle tiers are fluid and or very close in talent, but I need to see your workings out. I'll give you these four: Brady, Brees, Rodgers, and Wilson. You give me #5 and #6, plus all the guys you're cutting out of your top 12 in order to include Cam.

Even injured and ineffective in Oakland, if I'm an NFL GM I take Carr over him ever day (irrespective of contract)

Rivers and then Big Ben. I'll get back to you in a couple of years on Mahomes.

I could be wrong but it feels like Seattle tries to run the ball, gets behind and has Wilson bail them out and then they go and keep trying to run it because they think it worked.

I don't know about Carr being better than Cam. He's bounced back lately but not to that degree.

My top 12 today is Brees, Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes, Big Ben, Luck, Rivers, Wentz, Goff, Ryan, Wilson and Cam. There are plenty of guys like Watson that could easily move up and down but fully healthy and ignoring contracts those are my 12.

Last thing on Cam is he has two players on offense that are a decent level in McCaffrey and Olsen. Everyone else is pretty bad.
