I don't know about Carr being better than Cam. He's bounced back lately but not to that degree.

My top 12 today is Brees, Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes, Big Ben, Luck, Rivers, Wentz, Goff, Ryan, Wilson and Cam. There are plenty of guys like Watson that could easily move up and down but fully healthy and ignoring contracts those are my 12.

Last thing on Cam is he has two players on offense that are a decent level in McCaffrey and Olsen. Everyone else is pretty bad.

McCaffrey is a game changer on a good team, but don't disagree with the rest. Still, look what good QBs can do with bad receivers.

I understand that some QBs get it done but I seriously don't know that anyone has worse receivers. None of the ones I listed are even close to dealing with what he has.

I could be wrong but it feels like Seattle tries to run the ball, gets behind and has Wilson bail them out and then they go and keep trying to run it because they think it worked.

It's Pete Carroll's way. I honestly think he hates blowout wins...prefers a close game. He believes the game is won in the 4th quarter. Largely his philosophy has been successful, but I do feel like his way is one of the reasons that Wilson will never be viewed as good as he really is.

I mean even in his diminished role due to philosophy, guys like Luck and Newton aren't even in the same conversation in terms of offensive efficiency.

There is something to be said for that way of playing. Harbaugh has done the same thing with the Ravens and going back to it this year has saved the season this far. The problem is throwing away games against bad teams because you don't just go out and beat them down has cost the Ravens two years running. Needs to be a balance between controlling the game and stepping on the throat of a bad team.

Wilson is fantastic and you're right is totally forgotten in the hysteria of Brady, Rodgers, Brees and now the new guys like Mahomes. Luck is the Stafford of the AFC until he can find some substance for the stats. I listed my top 12 somewhere in the thread but Wilson is top half of that even.

Top 4 in all time career passer rating:

Rodgers 103.4
Wilson 100.1
Brees 97.7
Brady 97.6

I doubt most people know that.

He’s not better than Kirk Cousins or Joe Flacco. If that puts him 10 then one of us has trouble counting.

He's better than both of them. Flacco would have been a fair comparison but he has been awful. Being generous to the newton sucks opinion he is at worst 11 or 12.

NFL QB TIERS

1 Brady, Brees, Rodgers (very clear)

2 Rivers, Wilson, Mahomes (yes!), Roethlisberger, Luck, Wentz, Ryan (there are levels here, but too close to differentiate too much)

3 Stafford, Goff, Cousins, Dalton, Prescott, Watson, Flacco, Smith, Foles, Newton, Carr (there are levels here, and all have been great at times, but they're little more than bang average)

TBD Trubisky, Mayfield, Winston (I'm not sold yet)

Blake Bortles Tier

And this is according to? You? Lol Roethlisberger has been awful the last 3 years. The guy cant play on the road to save his life. Wentz is bad. Ryan has been bad the last two years.

All in all that tier ranking crap is awful. You're grouping guys together then saying their are levels.

Goff has had a bad couple weeks, but you putting Wentz in a "tier" above makes me question what you watch.

As a follower of the NFC west it amazes those that don't give Wilson respect. Given how defenses generally have to come up with something different when he steps out of the pocket because of his run threat and coaches have to tell their DB's to always keep playing until they hear a whistle because of what he can do. He is a Tebow who can actually throw a football and be very accurate (as in hes 100% better before anyone misses my point).

Gregg Williams as much as i hated him as a Rams D coach was one of the only ones to consistently figure out how to get fast guys honed in on Wilson when he would do this. Even if it was a big risk. It gave us light against a team who would trash us for a couple of seasons to the point we looked good against your lot haha!!

I agree have been saying this to friends who think the light shines from his ahole. There is a very good reason why people where shocked when the eagles picked up Wentz in the 1st round. Many teams looked at him as a 3rd or 4th round and yes i know they get it wrong but this guy not sure they did. Now with injuries who knows

The eagles O Line and his ability to run the ball has made him look far better as a QB.

When he came back from injury seemingly they changed the playbook to make him run less because they are concerned about his injury. This back injury is also from something old.

The one thing I didn't include in that post, and I probably should apologize to Russell for it, the most remarkable part of that stat is he's done it (until this season) behind arguably the worst offensive line in the league.

That dude has ran for his life for years and somehow is one of the most effecient passers in the game historically.

I love how some are comparing Mahomes to Tarkington. Mahomes is Wilson in a passing scheme. Wilson is Tark with a much better arm and more elusive.

From a different angle...I wonder how well Rodgers, Brees, Brady, and even Newton would have performed behind that Tom Cable joke of a line. How badly has Carr regressed behind that same coach?

Last point. Marshawn Lynch was a crap NFL RB until he was paired with Wilson. Yes, the Beast Quake was with Hasselbeck, but until that moment he was a below average RB.

Wilson's critics say Marshawn made him look good. I think it's the other way around. Russ' running threat allowed Marshawn to excel...and then Thomas Rawls happened. Rawls was amazingly filling the Lynch role as an undrafted rookie until he snapped an ankle.

Russ performed well with zero running game last season...even if the coaches kept trying to make it all season.

My point? Tom Cable is a very bad offenive line coach, and I don't know anyone else who could make lemonades out of the lemons Russ had protecting him to be historically near the top.
