NFL Thread 2018

The one thing I didn't include in that post, and I probably should apologize to Russell for it, the most remarkable part of that stat is he's done it (until this season) behind arguably the worst offensive line in the league.

That dude has ran for his life for years and somehow is one of the most effecient passers in the game historically.

I love how some are comparing Mahomes to Tarkington. Mahomes is Wilson in a passing scheme. Wilson is Tark with a much better arm and more elusive.

Nothing i can disagree with here spot on.

How many times i wished when a Ram got to him they would put him out of the game haha!! Not that i am condoning violence or targeting etc....

And this is according to? You? Lol Roethlisberger has been awful the last 3 years. The guy cant play on the road to save his life. Wentz is bad. Ryan has been bad the last two years.

All in all that tier ranking crap is awful. You're grouping guys together then saying their are levels.

Goff has had a bad couple weeks, but you putting Wentz in a "tier" above makes me question what you watch.

These rankings are officially sourced. No I do not watch football. (I am legally blind, and so is my seeing eye dog).

Thank you, -SN

NFL QB TIERS

1 Brady, Brees, Rodgers (very clear)

2 Rivers, Wilson, Mahomes (yes!), Roethlisberger, Luck, Wentz, Ryan (there are levels here, but too close to differentiate too much)

3 Stafford, Goff, Cousins, Dalton, Prescott, Watson, Flacco, Smith, Foles, Newton, Carr (there are levels here, and all have been great at times, but they're little more than bang average)

TBD Trubisky, Mayfield, Winston (I'm not sold yet)

Blake Bortles Tier

I wanted our QB to be outstanding, and he was. Be careful what you wish for.

Unequalled, as well.

From a different angle...I wonder how well Rodgers, Brees, Brady, and even Newton would have performed behind that Tom Cable joke of a line. How badly has Carr regressed behind that same coach?

Last point. Marshawn Lynch was a crap NFL RB until he was paired with Wilson. Yes, the Beast Quake was with Hasselbeck, but until that moment he was a below average RB.

Wilson's critics say Marshawn made him look good. I think it's the other way around. Russ' running threat allowed Marshawn to excel...and then Thomas Rawls happened. Rawls was amazingly filling the Lynch role as an undrafted rookie until he snapped an ankle.

Russ performed well with zero running game last season...even if the coaches kept trying to make it all season.

My point? Tom Cable is a very bad offenive line coach, and I don't know anyone else who could make lemonades out of the lemons Russ had protecting him to be historically near the top.
Wow, this thread really blew up today, can't be arsed to read it all, but here's a few of my two cents

I gotta agree Russel Wilson, for me, is still one of the most underrated players in the NFL, period.

We are seeing recently that Derek Carr isn't dead just yet. He has no one to throw to and and no running game and he's been very good the last month

Big Ben - awful human being. Very good NFL QB with an X factor to him. Highest "beta" of any of the top 10 QBs, he can look all-world and like a high school QB all in the same drive. That said, he's been good for us, and wouldn't rather have anyone else.

Baker Mayfield is absolutely legit. There's a Brett Favre to him. Cleveland needed someone like this. He DGAF

Philly was just generally down all year. Even their defense sucked. I'm chalking it all up to a SB hangover for a young team. Jury's still out on Wentz

Goff feels like the product of a system. He was throwing to wide open guys for a year and a half. No one saw this coming after the Fisher years. Will be interesting to see in the coming years who he really is

We need definite answers on how good or bad Cam Newton is. If you rate Cam, don't answer

As of this point in time, he has to be hurt. What I saw against the Saints was wild - I mean he looked like a shot-putter getting his arm into throwing position. So I think something is up there.

Huge talent, cannot be questioned. Not a leader of men, which is a pre-requisite for being an elite NFL QB. He'll have monster games here and there, but he's not in my Top 10 if you hold a gun to my head and say pick a QB to win you a game to save your life - you just don't know if he'd be arsed to show up

@OKEvertonian Good luck this week, should be a good matchup :) Bit lucky of me to make the final given the score of @Moomin and I's game...really should be a rematch of you and @SerenityNigh lol
Few years back in another league I was in, I distinctly remember being in a low scoring semifinal that I won, and then my best mate was in the other semifinal that was an absolute barn burner decided by that crazy Lions-Ravens MNF game. I of course went on to win the title while he was stuck in the third place game. So, it all evens out.

@SerenityNigh I shall be pulling for you, if only because if I am to be eliminated by Derrick Henry turning into Earl Campbell, I hope for others to feel my pain.

@Moomin I shall be gunning for you in the third place as I want that auto bid into the Champions League while you get stuck with a two legged tie against Villarreal. (too soon?)
