The media's excusing of Mahomes performance is going to really piss me off especially when my team's QB gets criticized for basically every incompletion. He was crap. The Oline stunk but you don't get to just wheel that excuse out because it is a guy you like when it doesn't count for everyone else.

Just something that has been rattling round my head for a while now, but can a team endure long term success with a mobile QB. Obviously Its coming after last night but does a QB like Mahomes, Jackson, Newton with all the tricks, unconventional plays etc work long term?

As a mobile QB they are more affected by injuries and diminished by them. You look at the immobile lumps like Roethelesburger, Manning and Brady, there is minimal movement based on reading the opposition defence, greater poscket protection with only a minimum of movement and less injuries.

Mahomes, Newton, Jackson, even going back to Vick take big hits on regular basis. I just wonder in light of Romo's comments last night about what Mahomes will have to do to equal Brady, if he is even physically possible of lasting as long.

This is kind of silly though right? Basically don't play like Mahomes because you might only have 10 seasons of being the best QB instead of 20? I mean if Mahomes wins 3 Super Bowls in 10 years and then his body runs out on him that's still fine I'd say.

I just feel like the idea of long term success being multiple decades is a bit misguided. Manning didn't have a two decade run with one team. Rodgers still hasn't got there yet. It really is a small list of guys and I don't think striving for that is necessary to being incredibly successful. Mahomes, Lamar and the rest should play their games for as long as they can.

Fran Tarkenton and John Elway made it to eight Super Bowls between them. It’s not the mobility, it’s the hits they take and Mahomes really doesn’t take that many hits, last night excepted.

please dont embrass yourself by comparing Mahomes to Newton and Jackson.

How can you compare Jackson to Mahomes. Honestly there are clear class gulfs between the two. I mean I dont disrespect Jackson, but he has serious limitations.

Not forgetting that the Chiefs were trotting out 5th/6th string OL which forced him to run for his life every down.

If Mahomes had some history of poor games I would hear you, but he simply doesnt.

If you think Lamar gets the same benefit of the doubt that Mahomes is getting after last night you aren't paying attention. It has nothing to do with whether Lamar is as good, he isn't, and everything to do with Mahomes not getting criticized for being crap in the same manner.

I suspect the Chiefs will unleash about 85-90% of what they are capable tonight.

During the season most of the time they were operating at 65-70% except for the championship game when they were closer to 85%.

They lost 1 game all season with their starters.

They are simply so far ahead of all opposition - current and historical - that there’s no need to show their entire hand.

The passing of the torch from Brady to Mahomes as greatest of all time happens tonight.

38-21 Kansas City wins
This aged with a sublime beauty unsurpassed in the annals of human history.
