Yep. I'd watched a few Superbowls and decided I wanted to follow a team. I got sky sports and one of the first non-superbowl games I got to watch was an MNF game - Cowboys @ Bills.
I knew I didn't want to support the cowboys (America's team and all that) but I became immediately intrigued by the Bills. Raucous, passionate fans, aging stadium, blue jerseys, and a painful last second defeat to a big team. (25-24 in that game). It felt just like Everton and like some masochistic idiot I was hooked, even though I knew I was potentially signing up for years of pain.
In 2008 I visited Manhattan and went to a Bills bar there to watch a 10-0 home defeat in high winds against the 49ers, with the bills missing several field goals. I had an amazing time and the fans I met we're genuinely boss - they took me under their wing and I just felt at home.
It's been a long, painful road but the pay off now of seeing them finally topple the Patriots now is amazing.
