The biggest factor in the Browns not coming back was going on a 9 minute drive down two scores. You can't waste your own time.
they dont have the quick strike offense like the Chiefs to handle these types of situations - it was kind of inevitable.

the narrative before the game was all about the Browns run game - it doesnt help you score quickly though.

They don't but you can still cut a lot of time off by just snapping the ball quicker. I'm not saying they had to score in 90 seconds but 5 or 6 minutes instead of 9 and they're more likely to get an extra drive.

As a Saints fan, I have to say I'm nowhere near as bothered by this playoff exit as I was after the previous three. The offence just didn't have it, they got 21 points off turnovers, and we had a stupid penalty nullify a punt return TD. Sucks to be done, but we basically blew our own brains out.

Might be for the best to move on from Brees to be honest

This 100%. And for all of the more recent heartbreaks, no one will ever be able to take Feb. 7, 2010 away from me.
I’m not a Saints fan but have so many great memories of that Super Bowl.
We had just gotten 20+ inches of snow here in DC.
Spent the first half of the day sledding down 16th street and then watched the Super Bowl in the afternoon

Was watching the game with a bunch of friends and was out of my chair before Porter even jumped the route on the game-sealing pick 6. After the game I called another Saints fan, a friend who is the night bartender at my local and I couldn't tell which one of us was the more drunk -- and he was at work!

Beating that Pats team was possible and Tomlin never even really coming close is a failure on his part. I mean the Ravens went 2-2 during the Flacco peak and were a whole lot closer to 4-0 than people realize. And there was no shot at anything less than 2 wins. They dominated NE twice. It wasn't impossible.

I'm not really saying Tomlin is a bad coach because the playoffs are just weird but I do think that the run that they had with Bell and Brown having one title game appearance where they got stomped is a bit of an underachievement. And he's going to have to rebuild again now and this time he doesn't have a great QB to shoulder a big load.
playoffs are more FA cup-ish these days. The best team often doesn't win. Sure there are 2-3 teams out of 14 that are chum but the rest, they could all win.

Saints are a better team than TB, Steelers were better than the Browns this year. They picked the wrong time to do stupid things. Rams were an injured mess, had a QB w/ 4 fingers and their best player was on the field w/ broken ribs. Seattle looked terrible against the Rams but no one would have been shocked if they won the SB. You just gotta stay healthy and for the most part play your best football at the end.

I agree, KC wasn't the best team on the entirety of last season and NE certainly wasn't the year before that. I'd actually say if any of these four teams won you'd have a pretty strong champion which isn't always the case.
