Fair points, but I don't trust Goodell's view of the situation. I think it's great to have games in London; I oppose any team having to move there (which seems to be his desire). And while it seems that the UK likes seeing games at Wembley, I'm not sure there is demand for a team at Wembley.

If PL games started being played in the US on a regular basis that might be fine, but I don't see anything larger than that happening.

This. Most of those attending Wembley games already have their team and they won't start following another team even if there is a team based permanently here.

Nailed it.

I love the NFL, but the fact is, that fans from far and wide across Europe come to not just watch their team, but enjpy the novelty of 3 NFL games taking place each year, but 16 games? Well by giving London a franchise, you're eliminating one of the teams people support, so the close encounters like Jets-Fins, Lions-Falcons/Chiefs will be eradicated, and there could be a huge possibility of London-Oakland, which would be attrociously attended, I mean, would anyone even change team to support a UK Franchise? I know i wont.

There is a novelty, and it's good, so keep it that way, a novelty, if they have to do it so they host what would be a full seasons worth of games (8 matches), then fine, do that, but don't take America's biggest sport, which is extremely limited in games anyway, and move it for a novelty, i'd rather have 2-3 games in the UK, than a novelty which will fail and end up with no games.

For the Jets game, it will cost me between £45-150 for a ticket, plus travel (£50), plus beer etc... (£20), so potentially £220 for one day at the NFL, to do that 8 times a year is just too costly i'm afraid.

Suppose there'll be no Redzone tomorrow and they'll force us into watching another Wembley blowout. Great.

If anyone has a link to watching it on-line I'd be grateful.

I actually think plenty of people would support it. Perhaps not change team, but certainly as a second team. Personally I have been to 3 or 4 of the games now, and only one of them involved the team I support (Bears). Infact this year I barely even knew who was playing for the teams involved. It seems from the ticket sales that they already have enough demand to satisfy filling out at least half a schedule over here. I do wonder though whether there is enough interest long term to have 8 games year in year out, but I would imagine that as the novelty wore off then an attachment to the team that is based here may increase to help balance the demand out. If prices came down I would probably be interested in going to a couple of games a season, especially if I knew one of them every year would be the Bears.

Speaking of which, they are so bad atm. I was actually depressed reading the reports of their game last night on Espn :(

Not a fan of London games that count. Give 'em preseason, NFL preseason barnstorming tour like EUro footy clubs do here.

FFS travel hurts Seattle just in the CONUS, and the NHL moved the Detroit Red Wings into the NE division (still a haul) to cut down on their travel schedule. And none of that compares to London and back. Nevermind the loss of revenue or one home game... those 8 are pretty important in a 16 game season.

There is really no need or reason for an English based NFL team. I have, and always will support the 49ers.
As a neutral though i would appreciate watching any of the big traditional sides in a one off match here as is currently the case.
Bears, Dolphins, Giants, Packers, Cowboys, Redskins, Broncos etc. NFL has always been very well supported over here and will continue to be. The current setup works well. I see no reason to change it.

I do worry about the Jags owner having Fulham though. I hope they do not try and shift them here permanently.

True. Both are rubbish, especially since he took over.

Both were in the process of becoming rubbish, and he hasn't found a key to turning it around in either place. He's learning how to be an owner, and he's been a good one here, with the exception of the team being putrid. We're really not on watch for a move like we had been for many years. "You can be a global brand without physically moving the team." That's their story, and they're sticking to it so far.

They are just awful, though. Miserable.
