No offense to you real Seahawks fans but I want to punch the ones that refer to themselves as "the 12s." Example: "I've been a 12 for two years now."

Seattle lost a lawsuit with Texas A&M over 'The 12th Man' which A&M trademarked in 1989. 2016 was going to be the last season they could use it, so last season the organization switched to referring to the fans as '12's'.

It's all very silly.

MVP in the first SB win though...?

Maybe his place in his brother's shadow sees him overlooked?

He was MVP in both his wins, and in fairness he did play well in the second one. The first one was more on his defence and him being bailed out big time by David Tyree. Regular season there's no contest. Peyton's teams have consistently won 12-13 games a season and the Colts completely fell apart when he wasn't there. Eli's tend to hover around .500.

I liked Bradford at OU. Thought he'd be great in the NFL. I'd say he's more like Romo, if you rate Romo, which I don't. Or maybe compare him to Phil Simms?

Why people don't rate Tony Romo is beyond me.

I don't like the Cowboys and I don't like the cut of his jib. I don't think he's got what it take to win; he's no unlucky Fran Tarkenton or Jim Kelly, nor even a lucky Eli. I just don't think he's that good. Maybe my view is bias, but I'll stick with it until proven otherwise.

The Cowboys are abysmal without him. I like Romo, but I think he's badly let down by having a very disappointing supporting cast outside of his O-Line, Dez and Witten.

I think he's in a tough spot. Not much talent in the team and the legacies of Aikman and Staubach to live up to.

Agree totally. Didn't have enough stories to match old guys like @mezzrow, but wanted also to evidence that lots of guys have been there and we don't credit them all as all-time great QBs.

Yep. I go back to Unitas and the 60's. You have to drop in Sid Luckman and Sammy Baugh from the pre-war/post-war era as well to be fair.

I remember the days when it was all about Broadway Joe, too. Joe and George Best were in the same era, and of the same nature. Joe took better care of himself after he wised up. Honestly, who wouldn't want to kiss Suzy Kolber?

Still can't get over the Steelers Bengals ending, they must be the most indisciplined team going them Bungals. The fact that they cost me money makes me rage at them even more.

Can anyone explain to me how Peyton Manning is thought of as an all time QB great in the same breath as Montana/Brady given he's won the one SB? I know it cant just come down to SB rings, but....

Peyton is top 5 all time. I'd put him behind Unitas, Montana and Brady (used to have him above Brady but Brady's last couple of years have been great and put him over the top).

Peyton played in a dome most of his career and played in an offense that relies on down the field timing routes. He throws to a spot well before the WR even makes his cut. He never had to worry about weather, wind, and could perfect this kind of offense.

The playoffs are kind of a different game. The 3 best offenses I ever saw were the 1999 Rams, 2001 Rams and the 2007 Patriots. The 99 Rams were the only team to win the SB, scoring 23 pts (plus only winning the NFC championship 11-6) while the 2000 Rams lost the SB only scoring 17 and the Pats just managed 14 in their loss. Points are just tough to come by in the playoffs. The refs let the defenses get away with a lot of hand-checking and bumping of WRs which throws off the timing routes that would be flags in the regular season. Granted the last 3-5 years they've been calling those penalties in the playoffs more now but still allow a lot more leeway. Plus you can hit the QB harder and not have to worry about getting flagged. Then there is that cold weather thing. So the advantage usually lies with teams with good defenses that can run the ball, and use a short safe passing game come playoff time. Elway didn't win anything until he finally got a running game and a defense and Aaron Rodgers is kind of in the same situtation himself.

So yes, he is an all time great and probably the best regular season QB of all time for whatever that is worth. He's also bit unlucky running into the greatest team of this century on multiple occasions. That being said there is no excuse for losing to the Saints in the SB and losing to the Steelers in the 2005 AFC Championship.
