Tougher and better. All day.
I agree, but don't discount rugby players wholesale. These guys look tough.

Tougher and better. All day.
Again I have to point it out to Americans, bigger, faster and stronger does not mean tougher. The bells are wearing padding and helmets, they would scream like little girls in the opening ten minutes of rugby guaranteed.
It also highlights why the best NFL players could not beat an average Rugby League team. You breed them as big and fast and strong for a game which is glorified British Bulldog without any skill.
Rugby Union requires not only fitness and toughness and speed, but also intelligence in the game. And endurance to wrap it all up.
It's twice the game played by guys who have to be three times as tough.
No backchat.
Fixed, I'm assuming.
Studies have shown however, that when people believe they are protected then they are more likely to act dangerously. For example, pedestrian deaths rose after airbags became common, because drivers were more likely to drive recklessly. Combined with the fact that helmets and pads do not protect against a number of terrible injuries, this leads to really bad stuff.
On top of that, the complete lack of endurance (or need for it) contributes to the dangers of American football. These people do everything at top speed, because they don't have to keep running - they get lots of breathers.
Not saying they are tougher, I don't think they are, but it's deffo more dangerous.
Union is ok but inferior to league, for a hand based game to be decided by who's got he best kicker so many times kind of undermines it as a serious spectacle.
League is always decided by who scored the most tries. It's the fundamental difference which makes League the better sport.
Example for seatbelts - as seatbelt legislation was introduced, seatbelt wearers began to drive faster:It's a struggle to see that as anything other than coincidence.
@GrandOldTeam I think it's time to lock this thread now mate. Nice one.
Good post. I can understand your view. It's a barbaric sport.
But I love it...modern day gladiators in a way. Killing themselves for our (and their) entertainment.
LOL nope

NFL players die at an average age of 58 years...life expectancy is 78 years. Killing themselves for our entertainment.
they don't do it for free mate, all roid heads die a bit earlier, and the average age of a gladiator was way below 58, so wrong on all fronts I'm afraidNFL players die at an average age of 58 years...life expectancy is 78 years. Killing themselves for our entertainment.
