The biggest misnomer is the "British way of life". This has changed constantly since people first settled here, solely due to immigration and development. The "British way of life" is a hybrid dating back millennia. Without our heritage of immigration, we would be the people we are today.
And there's always been the same level of resistance. "If you want a n-word for a neighbour, vote Liberal or Labour" etc. etc.
As said above, it's a two-way street that is already happening. It's absolutely insane to suggest that people migrating here shouldn't retain their cultural heritage to a degree. It's like saying an English bloke going abroad would be banned from eating egg and chips!
