Honestly I can foresee him starting, but not lasting the game

You would assume that after his early good showings a decision was made that we wouldn’t buy in cover for Digne, it would be Nkounkou and even if he wasn’t ready we would work on his weaknesses. That’s the puzzling bit for me that we haven’t made him more “ first team ready “ and ended up yesterday with a four man defence in which two were playing out of position. Branthwaite was brought in with minimal u23 exposure but Carlo had him functioning adequately to cover a gap, at worst we should have him functioning enough to be better cover than current make shift left backs. Maybe we’re not seeing some deficiencies that are apparent in training.I get that, and I’m certainly not saying he’s not at the required level because I like what I’ve seen and I expected him to play. I’m just saying that I understand him looking decent against West Ham doesn’t necessarily mean he’s ready to step in longer term. Plenty of young players have done fine in early games but then slipped down the leagues so I’m not going overboard based on limited showings. I find it crazy that we’ve got nobody else if that’s the case though.

It clearly doesn't matter what i think, yes he played great in the league cup. Would i personally have taking a chance on him yesterday? Yes i would have at least had him on bench. But let's not pretend he's the finished article!! A handful of senior games in his career, training with the first team for a few months. Ancellotti would play him if he was ready, perhaps the lad is a right tit? Maybe he threw the toys outta the pram when he didn't get a game? Maybe he's injured? Maybe he has personal issues? So you think Delph would have been seen as Dignes back up going into this season ?
I'm not believing that, especially after his performances in the league cup, which, before someone says against crap opposition, included a premier league team.
The lad isn't 15 or 16, he's 20 years of age.
Do you still think he shouldn't be in the squad now with not one fit left footed player at the club ?

Nobody knows. Ill trust the manager
Why would you assume disciplinary issues? Not involved with the u23s tonight, not in the main squad against Chelsea. So is he injured or has there been disciplinary issues?
Probably unlikely but he’s maybe being kept back from U23 duty in case he’s in the squad for Leicester? Or he’s had a knock? Not involved with the u23s tonight, not in the main squad against Chelsea. So is he injured or has there been disciplinary issues?
They've done the same thing with Gordon for a solid year now.Not involved with the u23s tonight, not in the main squad against Chelsea. So is he injured or has there been disciplinary issues?
Well we've been desperate for a left back, he's impressed in cup games, Carlo publicly said he'll be given chances in the next weeks (2 weeks ago) yet he's apparently not injured (we'd have heard about it). I don't think he's been told he can go on a nice Christmas holiday. Why would you assume disciplinary issues?
Hope Carlo goes for the same back 4 as on Saturday, in fact same team, have Niels on bench along with Gordon.
