Nikica Jelavic

It doesn't work that way! Form is what they're doing now, or in a reasonable amount of time going backwards - not months on end.

For example, Benteke is "out of form". If I were to apply the logic you lot are to Jelavic, then I'd be looking at last year and saying that Benteke is still in form. It doesn't work that way.

Lukaku - Last month's form, one goal, multiple poor performances.
Jelavic - Last month's form, two goals, good cameos off the bench, good 90 minute performance.

I'm NOT saying he's "the answer" or should start every game, but he very clearly should be given the start against Norwich to prove whether it's a fluke or not. If he screws up and looks useless, so be it, but you reward the possibility of good form.

You're spot on mate.

Lukaku has been poor of late.
Better player all round at 20 years of age, but he's just that, 20. Lukaku is a fantastic player but he's still human, and does need a rest.

He's still growing as a player and has been overplayed, Jelavic has look lively in the last couple of outings where as Lukaku has been struggling.

He got one...today.

If he starts against Norwich he will have had ten days off mate. Plenty of time off.

..I suspect most on here would be happy to swap Jela with the likes of the Belgian boy, Michy, we've been linked with.

Even I would like to see a new striker brought in (and I've said so in this thread before), but that doesn't mean I'm going to irrationally hate the guy regardless of what he does on the pitch in the meantime.

Serious question - what's the absolute disaster about starting Jelavic against Norwich, giving him 50 minutes and then bringing on a fresh Lukaku with a point to prove if things are level?

I'd rather start a player who can actually score in the Prem based on this season. Simple as that really.

This is my argument.

What's the big deal with rewarding Jela for a good performance today? Regardless how much "time off" Rom has had now he has, by his own admission, played more games this season already than he's used to. Coming off the bench is a viable option surely?

1. He plays to the form he's shown us in his other starts this season and does nothing to help us.
2. He gets hurt and we can't sell him.

No, but certainly month to month.

You seem to use 6/12 months ago as your definition for "current form" so I'm not surprised you don't understand.

Seriously though, you do see how any talk of a player who's only scored two goals against Stevie Wonder XI in almost a year taking the place of the 5th leading scorer in the PL is ridiculous dont you?
