Can't take you seriously if you genuinely think Lukaku is in form. I don't think you know what form means.

There's no sense in talking about Lukaku being out of form. In relative terms with his first two months he's not scoring as many, but 'out of form'.

Nah. He's doing stuff outside the box that the Jelavic's of this world aren't capable of.

He's done well today against admittedly poor opposition. I hope he's impressed a buying club so we can crack on and get a deputy in for Lukaku who Martinez wants. It's clear from his comments today he knows Jelavic is for leaving and wont stand in his way. Better for all concerned a deal is done this week.

Christ. You lot have been arguing about this for about 2 hours.

Fact is Jelavic will be off sooner rather than later.

For me it's more important to worry about the fact that our main 2 strikers don't really have a future with the club.

Jelavic looks like he's off.
Lukaku on loan.

Everything is short term for a club like Everton. We can lose players in the any transfer window on the whim of a club prepared to put a good offer on the table.

Ijjy putting his foot down right there.

I agree, today changes nothing, although it was nice to see him score. Who would you replace him with though? We would be terribly short up top if we/when we sell him. Kone's out, which leaves us with 1 real striker who's not even ours.

Is he? I've seen him run the channels etc. but Jelavic did that for us week in week out without scoring. His effort was always there, barring one or two individual performances when he'd half-arsed peel off a shoulder and not challenge for a header.

But Lukaku has done nothing different - the ball doesn't stick to him; his first touch is usually his last over the last month. The way he played last time out against Stoke was one of the worst performances I've ever seen from an Everton striker, both in terms of effort and application. When a striker then scores two goals the next game, regardless of the opposition, then pressure should be on his place.

Well, Martinez hints very heavily that it'll be a PL battle hardened player. So who could that be for the right price? Long maybe?

His movement is superior to Jelavic; he stays on his feet to offer a physical presence whilst Jelavic is on his arse looking to avoid it; and he has better link up play than Jelavic. Also, could you see Jelavic doing with the big feller did against S'ton the other week dancing round three challenges and getting a shot off?

People need a long lie down in a dark room if they think Jelavic is up to any sort of comparison with a lad like Lukaku.
