Nikica Jelavic

It's not frowned upon really.

It's simply a better option to start Lukaku.

Maybe it is, but surely Jelavic deserves a start at Norwich. In my opinion, it'd be poor man management to drop a player immediately after getting a brace, regardless of the opposition. If he does nothing then you bring Lukaku on from the bench, no biggie.

Even if we keep Jelavic, we need another striker anyway. Kone won't be back any time soon and might be ruined by the time he's fit anyway. We need another impressive, proven goalscorer. No youngsters from Championship clubs who we'll groom long term and no mediocre players from a mid-table team. We've been told that we have money to spend, well then spend it. Get a name who'll prove our ambition.

Serious question - what's the absolute disaster about starting Jelavic against Norwich, giving him 50 minutes and then bringing on a fresh Lukaku with a point to prove if things are level?

None mate. If you play well your in, play poorly you're out.

I hated Moyes for doing the exact opposite.

I'd be made up to see him start against Norwich. If he has a crap game he's back out the side.

Simple performance management. He'll be crushed if he's dropped after that today.

He's getting rewarded. He's keeping his place in an Everton match day squad near the top of the league as a deputy to the league's 5th leading scorer.

Love the word 'deputy' here, makes it sound like we should be calling him Sheriff lukaku

Good call.

I think we can all agree here that we should drop Robles for Lukaku and play two up front

Very doge

...I remember a post-match interview some time ago involving Cahill and Neville when they were asked about Jelavic. The looks on their faces said how much they rated him. That moment sticks with me but he's not been productive and if we can bring somebody in for the amount we get for him its a no brainer as far as I'm concerned.
