I've watched him play for Hajduk for 3 years.

Massive talent. Carried the team at such a young age.

He is. But we have a lot of (allegedly) massive talents.

He is getting a decent amount of playing time and will no doubt get more if he keeps on improving.

Which position do you think he's more effective in?

A few of us think an Attacking central midfield role but of course weve spent big on Sigurdsson...

There was one moment last night when Vlasic back heeled it to Lookman and went for the return pass which never came. It was a glimpse of the potential they have, but you just know if that was Liverpool, Lookman would have squared it across for Vlasic to tap in.

Now I'm not having a go at Lookman who was unplayable at times last night, but it's an area of both their games that they need to develop. I'd have them both, together with DCL, on extra curricular activities sat in front of Man City, Barcelona and Liverpool videos. They always seem to make the right choice when playing in colleagues who are in a better position to score.

The key is gametime. You saw Kenny underline this in his telegraph interview.

My thoughts are really clear on this...we should be using this season to get u21s as much gametime as possible and forge partnerships with one another.

@BlueToff was saying he'd like to see Lookman as an inside forward and I think he, @catcherintherye and @Eggs have all mused about Vlasic playing centrally...we really need to give these kids games in their best positions then build a team around a particular formation to get the most out of them all.

If Rooney is now playing deeper and if Barkley is off then Vlasic will need to compete with Sigurdsson for the central attacking role...then of course, when Dowell returns do we then have Vlasic and Dowell stuck behind Sigurdsson?

Additionally, we signed Onyekuru after we bought Lookman. There is a free opportunity there for these two players to get games on the left side but both seem best at the inside-forward position...Vlasic can also play here but then weve got three kids competing for one position.

I'd like to see Allardyce try and slot the u21 players into a formation which helps all of them get games this season and then when next season comes around no-one sees them as u21s anymore but starters/rotation. This would also help a new manager who may come in and (as this is his thread) see Vlasic as a right midfielder, use him for 10+ games there before deciding he can play in the 10 role.

If each of the 'proven' u21s had 10+ games in their favoured positions Jan onwards then I think it would be greatly beneficial.

Allardyce also stands a good chance of winning favour and having next season if he gets something successful going with the kids.
