Non League Football

Welcome To Wrexham is on Disney+ for all those wanting to see the greatest town city in the world.
Just watched the 1st 2 episodes it’s interesting but also it seems a little fake, not the documentary but the situation, the owners have never met in person before and they are doing a documentary before they even buy the club.. it’s odd.. can see them selling up if they don’t go up this year

I watched it , the first one was quite emotional , bringing back lots of good memories.

Naw, that’s just a snapshot of the early days , there’s been a full season since then . The owners have fully committed to the club and community , backing up plans for a 5,500 seater stand on the old Kop, redeveloping parts of the ground etc . I assume they’ll make money out of the documentary, but there’s no doubt they’re committed to the club. I just wish our owner showed similar commitment and the same sense to bring in footballing experts to make for the lack of football experience.

Went to Burscough today for Skem Utd v Prescot Cables, this is the old Burscough FC clubhouse

How was the game? Was 2-2 wasn’t it?

I did Rylands yesterday, and what a really bizarre set up there.

The clubhouse, outside the ground is amazing, best I’ve seen in non-league, a real thing of beauty, but the ground itself was a shambles.

No terracing, uneven, sloped pitch, real shame.

It was a decent game , Cables started well in both halves but ran out of steam . Skem got a winner in added time to make it 3-2 , 3 good goals to give them credit. I’d noticed Rylands only had photos of the clubhouse on their website , I’ll try and get there this season.

They’ve got the players changing rooms and bar in the corner of the stadium, which looks a bit like a big B&Q shed from the outside.

But the big pub like set up outside towards the retirement homes is excellent. Almost like a big old converted barn. Really smart, sadly lack of fans, means no atmosphere and losing 1-0 didn’t help either.
