Non League Football

Did you enjoy it?

Solid game I thought! The right team won, and luckily a late Bamber bridge goal in their game means no replays…

So if you’re looking for another game, Bamber Bridge Vs. Marine Tuesday night.
To be honest mate I was a bit pissed, but it was a decent game. I’ve been to Bamber Bridge before and if I was going anywhere it’d be Widnes with Cables but I’ve been there with Marine :)

Went to park view road to watch Welling play Oxford city for the first time on 18 months. Was impressed with the team but also the efforts of the club's new ownership to reach out to the community. Loads of kids there, the Women's team etc. Almost 1000 fans and only a handful from Oxford.
Nice to see a 5 0 win as well.

Was surprised to see that score tbh. Oxford C a decent outfit. Last time I went to Welling (c2018) was a small crowd and low morale (still under Goldberg’s ownership). Decent catchment area especially with Charlton doing so poorly.

It's always been a frustration that no effort was ever made to reach out to the community, schools etc. There was also no connection between the age group teams. All changing thank goodness.
Ground development plans afoot as well.
Goldberg a charlatan and the reason I stopped going after 30 years.

Is it Widnes at home?

I’d say save yourself the trip. No beer in your seat, ground is far too big , so it’s just soulless.

(If you’ve not already experienced it, that is!)

Yes I went last season , once was enough.

Saw this on the BBC:

Police are investigating after Oldham midfielder Hallam Hope was left with "serious injuries" after being "viciously assaulted" following their National League game with Chesterfield.

Chesterfield have said they are aware of an allegation relating to one of their players, who has not been named.
Oldham said the incident happened in the staff car park on Saturday.

Hope, 28, required hospital treatment and will be out "for some weeks", a club statement added.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed they have received a report of an assault at Oldham's Boundary Park stadium.

The Latics said they have provided CCTV footage of the incident, with Chesterfield adding that they are also assisting with enquiries.

"The club is supporting Hallam and will continue to do so. We wish him a speedy recovery from a dreadful experience," an Oldham Athletic statement said.

"Whilst the investigation is continuing Oldham Athletic will make no further comment on the incident."

Hope played all 90 minutes of Saturday's 2-0 defeat by Chesterfield.

After joining Oldham in 2021, he remained with the club following their relegation from League Two last season and has scored three goals in seven league appearances this term.

Prescot are a handy team, they were unlucky last season that the league was so strong to be honest, didn’t deserve to be that low.

Widnes we’re just plodders. I’ve seen them this season and they’re not very good at all.

Still maintain that the NPL West is a great division, aside from the trip to Workington!
