Non League Football

Seems like a very sad day for Scunthorpe a United, as their Owner Dave “Hilton” (also goes by 3 other surnames), has announced his intentions to withdraw all funding from club.

Hilton, who has done time for fraud and has destroyed various other clubs, was seen mocking the club on Facebook earlier this week, with a quote saying he’ll “Laugh when the club dies”. The club will now play about 30 miles away in Gainsborough.

What a shame for Scunthorpe. It wasn’t that long away we beat them 5-1 away in the cup.
It's grim that.

They'd have won that league as well this year.

Although not non-league now of course this is so similar to Wrexham’s story 20 years ago . They were the first club to be deducted 10 points after going into administration, relegation , unscrupulous owner transferring ground ownership into side companies, selling land off for profit etc. it was only fan-ownership which saved them in the end. The tales of Scunthorpe, Bury etc are so sad for ordinary fans.

Entertaining game and contrast of styles at Weymouth v Bath City. Direct Weymouth’s physical game negated by a quick passing, two wingers game from the Romans. Weymouth 1 Bath City 2 and the score flattered Weymouth. Draw for 4th Qualifying Round tomorrow when National League teams enter.

It's Ann odd ground isn't it?
Very concrete and out of town. Good bunch their fans generally.

Yes, it’s like an old style ground on a new build site. You half expect to find an out of town Tesco there. Their fans are a decent bunch but fairly long suffering at the moment as the team haven’t been in great form for a few years. There was a small group of c16 year old lads who tried to mix it with the Bath fans, nothing serious until the stewards completely over reacted while escorting them out. Storms, tea cups etc.

If anyone is looking for a new ground, 4th Qualifying Round was drawn today.

Marine drew Halifax Town away, after beating Hyde 2-0 away on Saturday, with two screamers.

Game is gonna be played on international weekend, believe we are predicted to take about 300 fans, following the 200 who went to Hyde.

Just incase anyone fancies a new ground.

I’ll end the promotion now
