Non League Football

You must have been to Warrington Town , I assume they meet the capacity requirements for the National north but I thought it was a dump.

Capacity isn't actually a main concern, strangely.

The available capacity must have a minimum seating for home and away fans; sufficient segregation facilities, accessibility and turnstiles.

Warrington isn't great, nor are the Ashton's. Bradford PA who o ly recently got relegated have a very small stand and that's about it.

I believe there are plans for a roof over the far terrace at Marine.

Possibly... for ground grading requirements for promotion to the Conference North, you need to have a capacity of 3000, with a realistic potential to increase the capacity to 4000. I believe their current capacity is around 3200.

For promotion to the Conference National, you need to have a capacity of 4000, with a realistic potential to increase the capacity to 5000. And that's just the basic capacity requirement. There are plenty more boxes to tick.

I'd imagine it's theoretically possible, but would be bloody expensive to achieve for a non-league football club.

They've already outgrown that ground. One side off limits and the other side is ridiculously narrow. They restrict capacity because a 1500+ crowd is uncomfortable.

The issue is access because of the two sides of the ground. A shame as tgey could really progress if they had the space of a Prescot Cables.

A mate, who is a season ticket holder, said they can`t make the ground any bigger, due to having houses on three sides and as such can never get promoted, as it stands.

Can confirm it's absolute nonsense.

Our AGM today confirmed to fans that we've passed the grading for National League North.

I thought this was an interesting article, a lot of clubs must have serious money worries.

Not sure how clued up you are on the finances, but there are several clubs in the National League North/South who are hundreds and thousands if not millions in debt.

How can that even happen? Truly bizarre how much some of the sided spend.

The lunacy of being full time at that level probably. In other European countries they are much stricter about this. Clubs have to submit budgets prior to the season and can be demoted if they have any shortfalls.

Not clued up at all to be honest, but it always surprises me if I read a side are full time (as @Preki said) . I always think they’d be a real loss to the local community if they go under.

I think some of it the ego of owners. Being full time sounds like they run a 'proper club'. Unless you can draw 3-4000 regularly it's unsustainable.
It also can be a hindrance to attracting players especially below the national league (division 5). As a lot of players work so can't afford to go full time or train in the daytime.

So I see City of Liverpool AKA “the Purps” AKA the professional squatters, are having to play their home game against Cables today at Widnes. Been groundsharing with Bootle but allegedly kicked out for not paying rent. Think this will be their third “home” ground in the last two seasons, two of those being in Widnes and Ellesmere Port. LOL

They can't be attracting many to watch them in that case?

No alleged.

They've been kicked out. Can't see Widnes being viable long term, not that accessible via public transport, not in Liverpool.

Been getting crowds of "300", but looking at videos of their games, be lucky if there's even half thar there.

No overheads, but can't see a positive outcome for them. Mind you, when you narrow down your audience by claiming to be "the only socialist Football team in the UK", you're becoming desperate.

Bootle, Prescot, Southport and Marine all at least double what they get for a home game, can't see that changing if Widnes becomes their permanent home ground. If Widnes doesn't, then they're up a creek, as no league standard stadiums are available to them.

I saw CoL play at Vauxhall Motors’ ground when they shared there , may be a possibility again but it’s a pain to get there.

I’m a Widnes fan and they did bring about 100 or so for the away game against us.

Be interesting to see what happens if they can’t secure a home ground that meets league requirements. Skem were demoted for that reason.
