Non League Football

Whilst Marine remain pitiful, after another 1-0 home loss, this time to a very poor Scarborough.

I'm off to Maghull - Widnes tonight for the first round of the Liverpool Senior Cup.

The winners will face winners of tie between Runcorn Town or AFC Liverpool in the next round.

Enjoy the game tonight BG. Haven’t been able to make it, Widnes have put a mixed side out, but the bench is absolutely stacked.

Finished 2-1 to Widnes.

Much like most of the season, Maghull have about 60 minutes in the tank.

Very much the better side in the first half, as the better players came off and Widnes brought on quality it was looking more like hanging on for the draw.

Widnes had one cleared off line, narrowly wide from 20-yards. It felt like it was coming and inevitably did on 92nd minute.

Still, £3.50 a pint and the scouse is still spot on.

Good effort. I reckon about 30 travelling fans? Not bad.

Pleased with the win, the Senior Cup away to a lower division side is always a banana skin for us. Having players of the quality of Steele and Miller coming off the bench was always likely to make the difference.

Saw on Twitter, it looked like a good turnout overall for a midweek Senior Cup game. Good effort from the Maghull players too against a good Widnes side.

I don't think the attendance has been announced yet, but there was a solid 400 there I think.

Lots of schoolkids enjoying themselves with it being half term, was good to see.

A person highlight was the floodlights, going off in their debut. Much to the amusement of everyone.

Home draw next against Runcorn Town or AFC Liverpool and less of a difficult pick for me; as Marine visit Lower Breck.

They're a gang of pretentious over the top "lad" scousers.

Where your postcode should be worn with pride.

They're having all sorts of issues at the moment and they sound like they're km real trouble.

They were quite poor yesterday, made it difficult like but not a lot going forward for a lot of the game. What was noticeable, they looked quite a small team v Nantwich and they struggled to get their better playes on the ball. I wonder if a few of that team start no matter what?

Some season Nantwich are having. Looks like the top 3 are opening up a gap and separating themselves off into a mini league of their own. Widnes had another convincing win, smashing Clitheroe 3-0. Vauxhall seemingly won’t let up either.
They appear to have a bit of cover now. Certainly at centre back and across the back 4/5. They played three cbs on Saturday as the regular rb was suspended. I'm still not sure they have enough quality in depth, however, they finished the game with several 'regulars' not on the pitch, and tbf I barely know the league and maybe I'm overestimating the opposition?

They certainly look far stronger than they did in the first month or so, and provided they don't get too many injuries or suspensions at once they should be there or thereabouts. Hyde Utd (holders) in the Cheshire Cup at home tonight, they're a league above, so that'll be a decent test.

Someone at the ground on Saturday said one of the Wythenshaw teams have been suspended, for something regarding taxes? Any clue?

It’s all about the squad at this level, you need to rotate quite a bit because of the sheer amount of games and unusual factors come into play like some players working shifts and stuff like that. Nantwich and Widnes both seem to have beefed up the squad in the summer and are able to effectively replace players that are missing and use subs to give players a rest when needed.

I’m not too sure what’s happened with Wythy Town, just seen that they’ve been suspended temporarily. No idea what this means, other than their last couple of fixtures have been postponed. Sure we’ll find out in the coming weeks what’s going on with them.

@Lobworm , @MikeH72 I saw this last week
I think Wythenshawe originally said that they hadn’t provided the information in the right format, hence the league statement.
