Yeah, his dad sang it in the ring didnt he?

Ironically, that song was written by a bloke who lived in the same town as I do, Portishead, and also wrote Long way to Tipperary. Or Pack up your Troubles. One of them anyrate. Local church has a stained window of him.

Cant recall his name though.

Actually that is bobbins. But he did write Danny Boy.

Isn't it the house of windsor related, therefore a royalist association.

I wouldn't get hung up on the name of the ground.

West Ham's ground is named for Anne Boleyn lol

Windsor Park is not owned by the IFA.

It is owned by Linfield FC so the national association couldn't re-name it even if they wanted to.

The main GAA ground in Belast is called Casement Park.....after a very famous gunrunner for the 1916 rebels, Sir Roger Casement.

Now, to be fair, you don't hear Belfast taigs saying they want the Casement name changed when they demand Windsor change its name :)

Windsor Park doesn't belong to the IFA, it belongs to Linfield Football Club, the IFA pay them for the use of it. As I said I have been in the ground numerous times and never even thought of the name let alone be intimidated in anyway by it.
They did use Danny Boy or the Londonderry Air as an anthem for a while, again it is something I didn't give a lot of thought to. I generally go to games to watch football not to worry about the name of the ground or the music they stand for.

Many northerners don't support Northern Ireland, many support the Republic, that is their choice, I have absolutely no problem with that, as I have said I've been to Republic games and had a great time. But there are some people who have never been to a match iat Windsor but who will tell you how bad it is do annoy me.
I have no problem with the name of the ground neither do I have a problem with Casement Park being named after Roger Casement. I once scored a goal in Casement with my head and I was playing Gaelic football.
