Northern Ireland

Danny Boy is another name for The Londonderry Air. The tune is The Londonderry Air the words were added later and called Danny Boy.
The song is called the Derry Air cause that's what its called and that's where Derry is in Derry not London. Everyone knows that unless your being sectarian and saying that Derry isn't Derry but is somehow a province of London?

I've always found the Northern Ireland soccer fans to be Bloody Sunday celebrating bigots.

I'm sure that's not applicable to anyone posting on here but it's my honest opinion. For downright one eye hatefulness they're a fusion of Liverpool and England.
Best off ignoring the bigots mate. I used to let them annoy me for years but now I just laugh at their nonsense..trust me it's better

Nope. The song was written by Fred Weatherby. Was not liked. His sister heard the music for Londonderry Air, Weatherby realised the lyrics fitted the tune, and it was reissued. Or whatever they did back then.

So the lyrics were Engish written, and put to an Irish tune. If that makes sense.

But whatever, it is seen as an Irish song by everyone. You could probably dissect billions of old songs and trace the origins.

Much like my fellow Derry* born compatriots Darron Gibson and Shane Duffy I support the South because of family connections, preference and the majority of game going NI fans are massive sectarian knobheads.

I have an Irish passport, I am very proud to do so, was annoyed when they changed the colour away from green, preferred having a green passport to the amorphous one I have now.

I support Northern Ireland, I was born in County Down, County Down is in the north. I always want the South to win, except when the play the North. Some empty head said on here the majority Northern Ireland fans were sectarian knobheads, I don't know the majority of the fans, perhaps he does, perhaps he is right. But when I go to a game I support the team not the fans.
Northern Ireland's achievement is outstanding, when the Republic beat Poland their qualification will be outstanding. To have both teams in the finals I would be a sensation.

I think we are agreeing

It was a crap group really. I mean good on them and that but I'd fancy someone like Reading to qualify from that group.

They will take a mullering in the summer but at least they made it there, I just hope they behave themselves and we get none of the tedious cafe shop smashing.

Congrats lads, You've earned it. I just hope we can pass through as best group 3rd, it depends on that Ukraine-Spain match on Monday. I would love us to be at the Euros even if that means everyone will beat us. It was so long ago we made that the fact itself that we could be there feels good. Anyway, bon voyage to Northern Ireland!
