We just need to practice defending corners and scoring from them, just getting better at those two aspects would get us another 15 points a season.

7 goals conceded from corners in 15 games, the last 3 games, 3 from corners, 1 from a set-piece costing us 6 points.

There is a clear problem that needs addressing.
Unfortunately the only person who can`t see this problem is the manager and with his almost Nelsonian use of the blind eye it`s not going to get any better.

So your point is?

Because when all's said & done utd aren't under whiskeyhooter and haven't been for three or more seasons, and just about anyone can beat chelsea these days...
Watching AFC Bournemouth yesterday, there is no doubt that that side is on the rise. They played a nice game. We'll see what Chelsea does to save its season on Monday against Leicester.

I don't think a Europa Cup place would be good for us this season. We need another year building. I think the pressure would set us back. Next year we will be better equipped to deal with more games.

It could do mate, I think unless we had a Sheikh or someone in charge of us Europa is always going to have some kind of negative effect on our league performances TBH. I think a lot of teams or managers certainly look at qualification as a bit of a poisoned chalice. I always enjoy Europa though myself.

It's irrelevant. We were two goals up on bournemouth at one stage, in total control - and ballsed it up. Whether they're top of the league or bottom, that's unforgiveable.

But it's a recurring theme with us. It's probably that result which has spurred bournemouth on.

We definitely turned Bournemouth's season round for them. Imagine they finish above the falling Saints.

Oh the joy.

I'm bloody sick of Everton arseing up my weekends. Was really looking forward to this trip to Norfolk, with an evening gig to see Northern Ireland's fine rock group Ash thrown in. A perfect day it would have been but for guess who?

Lukaku and Kone have simply got to be more ruthless and basically do better. The chances and the quality of some of the chances missed are unacceptable in this league.

I'm also disgruntled with Baines who should have cleared the ball up the field rather do what he did and concede the corner, which we basically can't defend. Its fine margings to win games in this league as the scrap to stay in it for the £££££££millions is fiercer than ever before and we just need to stop ballsing up and get this winning mentality which Martinez keeps harping on about.

Rant over and Ash were the highlight of the day, sadly not Everton.

HAHAHA Awesome, saw Ash on Thursday in Sheffield, pub crawl Friday, then made the trip to Norwich. My weekend started well and went downhill.

As for Everton, in the past 6-7 games have followed a similar pattern.

0-15 mins, Everton play sublime football, go 1-0 up.
15-30 mins, we either score a 2nd, or get too cocky and over complicate things and miss huge chances
30-45 mins, slack off and have one token mistaken from someone in the back 4, nearly resulting in goal.

45-60 mins, Everton have a collective comatose moment where no one is on the same wavelength, usually resulting in a goal conceded followed by more stupid misplaced passes
60-75 mins, Martinez contemplates making a substitution, nerves start kicking in.
75-90 mins, subs are made, anything could happen.

There is something mentally wrong as a collective that needs fixing.

Really enjoyed Ash, great night.

You're spot on with your summary regarding the mentality. At half time, around 6 of us all knew what was coming, all having the same feeling that we would blow it. We really should have lost in the end, if they score that sitter.

We're so bloody Everton.

Our attacking play is Champions League and our defensive play is Sunday league.

So in a manner of speaking, on average, we're kind of mediocre. Us being 9th (probably 10th after the RS play) would give credence to that.

It's a shame as our attacking play is superb. It's like being the world's finest chef in the world's slippiest restaurant. We keep cooking up exquisite meals and before anyone gets a taste, we trip and land face-first into our Blanquette de Veau.
Our defending is nowhere near that bad. Ludicrous to suggest so.

Are you under thirty per chance?

Its called a new manager....

100% spot on, tired of the Barca hipsters in our fanbase lauding a 1-1 draw against a relegation fodder side because we play nice football in one half of the game.

Give me a scrappy 1-0 win any day or even better a nice attractive 3-0 win with a solid defence which is something martinez has shown he's unable to deliver.
Nobody was lauding a 1-1 draw, on the contrary I think pretty much Evertonian was disappointed about it.

There was just reasonable blues calling for context and not using the Martinez thread as personal anger therapy, that's just for tits.

But I'll accept being a Barca hipster (@FCBarça you win man) if you accept being the banned posters @Bluenose1995 @EverBlue86 @Bally1960 @Big Doug and another I've forgot about.

Deal?

I don't think there was an Evertonian anywhere that wasn't thinking the missed chances wouldn't come back and haunt us second half , it's everton after all, but don't beat your self up about bainsey's clearance, it was defending 101 with a ball across the box running in towards your own goal with a man up, it goes out for a corner ,no other option.

Correct on Kone has not been on it for a while now, tho RM should have brought him off early in 2nd half. Baines looks massively unfit, but will take games, but look at his shot that hit the bar...if that would have been some others eg Barkley, you would have to pick what row behind the goal he would hit. As for Lukaku, just cant critisise him, cos without we would really be goosed

.....somebody in the pub said "Lukaku is a poor finisher" but his record shows that is a long way from the truth. Players like him will always miss the odd chance but his goals per game is fantastic and you have to accept he will not convert in every instance. The players around him need to score their quota and I'm never confident Kone is going to do that.

Regarding Baines, natural left footer isn't clearing that upfield but I did wonder if he could've helped it on its way for a throw in. Watching it back, though, it does kick up at him and I think it's a bit unfair to blame him. It's not about giving corners away, it's about defending them. I can understand your frustration and well done on making the trip.
