Another Luddite....why does there always have to be a whipping boy? Naismith did nothing wrong and has been solid pre-season. Utd lost at Norwich last year and won the title by a canter.....did SAF worry? Going by your rhetoric there should be a dozen teams that finish on zero points this year, because the lesser teams simply shouldn't be able to get results and everyone else should beat them.
One game in and our seasons over. Martinez and Naismith out.

Luddite? Do you even know what that means? All I'm saying is if we can't beat Norwich you can forget top 6 - and imo bringing on Naismith almost immediately after scoring a second goal was stupid - maybe kone - but swapping Naismith for Mirallas was a bad decision - first thing Naismith did was duck the challenge that led to their goal.

Baines looked tired from Midweek and had a quiet game, Osman was his usual utter **** - Biggest mistake goes to Roberto for bringing that clown Naismith on right after we scored who then ducked out of a challenge which led to there goal. If we can't beat a side like Norwich its worrying. We had months to prepare for this we didn't look we had a solid plan A and if his plan B involves Naismith then that's even worse. Roberto did not impress today.

Roberto has impressed me plenty. You on the other hand...

By the looks of it Martinez has got his ideas up and running at break neck speed. This was a first match of the season, away to a team we usually do poorly against, and we still absolute bossed them. Good things are coming I believe.

The one thing that worried me a bit was the lack of creativity in the middle. Pienaar came inside more than he did under Moyes but frankly didn´t do well, seemed to over hit everything. We need someone who can link midfield with attack. It´s not going to happen this window, maybe in january.

How long is Barkley under contract for?

I'd sign him up on a seven-year deal, me. Any team who wants him any time within the next five years would have to pay through the roof to get him. What a show of confidence in the boy that'd be.

You can bet he´s now firmly on the radar of every top club in Europe, especially in this country obviously. Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, we need to brace ourselves cause if he continues to develop a bid will come in probably next close season or at the most the one after that.

Getting him on a long as hell contract should be done ASAP, like yesterday. Also, we need to do it before Ross himself gets big ideas.

He's been on their radar since his debut against QPR mate.

Laughing at Osman on the OS saying we cant afford to keep on conceding two goals per game. Maybe if he could do a job we wouldn't have to.

He's never struck me as believing Martinez was the right appointment, and people saying he'll be the first casualty under this new regime have it spot on, imo. I dont think his attitude is right and in terms of ability he's running on fumes. Whoever handed him that new contract needs to be clubbed with baseball bats.

Shame that gibbo was injured, osman, as much as I like him wouldn't have played. We need a new midfielder pronto, people seeing ossie yesterday and still thinking Barry would be a bad loan must be mad!

Pretty happy with yesterday's performance, yes it's frustrating when you turn a game around like that to then go and draw is frustrating but as has been stated, Norwich are a stubborn and frustrating side. They reminded me of us a few years back, defending in numbers with great work rate. It seemed even when we had counter attacks they had 3/4 men back and our attacks were faced by virtually everyone but their lone striker.
I think they actually showed us a lot of respect yesterday, echoed in Chris Houghton's after match comments: "I think it was a fair result. They showed what a good side they are. They are seasoned side so we are delighted with the result. You want to win every home game but overall I am quite happy."

The first goal was pretty poor from our pov but the second was unfortunate, a defense can't account for a sliced cross right onto van Wolfswinkel's head (which was a great header as well). I suppose the problem is when we come up against teams like this have we got the credentials to break them down or the individual flair to pull off something special. Hopefully the likes of Barkley and Mirallas can offer those aspects over the coming season. Kev was quiet yesterday but I don't think you can ignore the fact that Nathan Redmond worked his socks off for them yesterday up and down that flank containing him. They really were worried about us, which is a good sign.

Looking forward to West Brom next week now, Gibson back in for Osman hopefully and I'm expecting a home win.
