All I'm saying is if we can't beat Norwich you can forget top 6 - and imo bringing on Naismith almost immediately after scoring a second goal was stupid - maybe kone - but swapping Naismith for Mirallas was a bad decision - first thing Naismith did was duck the challenge that led to their goal.

You can bet he´s now firmly on the radar of every top club in Europe, especially in this country obviously. Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, we need to brace ourselves cause if he continues to develop a bid will come in probably next close season or at the most the one after that.

Getting him on a long as hell contract should be done ASAP, like yesterday. Also, we need to do it before Ross himself gets big ideas.

Think you're going a bit overboard here mate. it was just one game, loads of villas youngsters had at least one good game last season. That kaclicnik at fulham started the season like a house on fire, i'm sure none of the top european clubs put him on their radar.

We looked pretty ordinary to me and I wasn't happy with the performance.

Why does Jelavic get so far away from the penalty area? He's a striker, and that's all. He can't score when he's out wide

That Whittaker goal was a catalogue of errors, tbf. I thought Baines and Pienaar should have snuffed that run out; then Felli was a culprit making zero challenge on him when he did wriggle through; then Jagielka doesn't get across fast enough to block; lastly, Howard is slow off the floor to respond to the tap in along with Distin.

True. But that gif highlights that even for a defender, reacting as an attacker is more instinctive than reacting as a defender. Hence defenders switching off etc even when like our Sylvain they would be more than capable of getting there first.

Barkley MOM . A game we should have won, Norwich were out-matched on the teamsheet and on the pitch. Osman had a stinker, looks too have lost a yard upstairs and in his legs. Steven P was,nt involved enough and MF seemed to be all over the shop in terms of his position on the pitch....looked like someone who did,nt want to get injured before the transfer window shuts.

At the top end of the pitch we looked poor, we could,nt seem to select the right pass or open up the back 4 which is a problem for me if we look suspect at the back.

Martinez need to add a defensive CM and a creative CM to unlock the door for the strikers. I still think john Stones is an option for us in a back 3 but that will only work if we bring 2 into the CM.

I thought it was a great away performance, especially for Martinez's first match. We dominated, but suffered some misfortune. We're going to smash some teams this season,

Barkley's first XI emergence is really going to add depth to our squad. Hopefully Stones can get involved too.

The problem we seem to have is finishing teams off when in control.

DM had that problem and so did RM yesterday.
