Not A Transfer Rumour..... Wayne Rooney

I'm not sure how contracts work, ive heard if a player doesn't hand a transfer request in and get sold that the club have to pay the remaining of the contract to the player? so is this why the rs and man u are trying to force the players into putting a transfer request in.

Yes your right about the contracts, but the thing is with Rooney their is now a stalemate because him/his agents dont want to loose the money so won't put a request in

This thread makes me sad. In my head, I know there is realistically no chance of us being the team Rooney moves to. But the vague whispers that he wants to come back, and that tiny 0.000001% chance that he could say to Utd "I want to go, and I'll only sign for Everton" gives JUST enough hope to sucker me in. :(

It's now or never for me (Rooney coming back).

If, in 5 years time, we are still in a position where we would sign a 32 year old, past his best Rooney... then we will have had a bad 5 years and I will be one depressed supporter again.

It won't be now. I think the most likely scenario where we end up signing a still decent Rooney is that he stays at Utd this summer, and we sign him on the cheap next summer, when he's only got a year left on his deal. Still massively unlikely though.

It's going to take one hell of a solution to solve the Rooney/Moyes stand off, and I'm not sure if Rooney will accept sitting on the bench with Moyes in charge. The solution is Everton.

They aren't going to sell him to one of their competitors for the title, a move abroad seems unlikely to materialise, so the only remaining answer is for Rooney to spend a year on loan at Everton.

Sell them Fellaini for 20 million, but get Rooney on loan for a year as part of the deal. Bring Flamini in with the rest of the cash.

Sounds good, mate. You willing to pay his 150k+ wages?

Bad blood with Moyes. United won't sell to a competitor. Moyes wants at least one of our players. Rooney's a boyhood blue. Doesn't want to leave England. Or move house.

It's too perfect.

Except for the metric butt tonne of cash it'd take that we don't have.

Jesus h. Why don't we just buy him outright with that tv revenue, eh?

Because I don't think Rooney would want to sign for Everton permanently. But getting away from Moyes for a year, playing every week before the world cup, and running his contract down by a further year may appeal to him.

Or it could at least be considered the lesser of two evils, with the other option involving sitting on the bench with David Moyes in charge at United.

United will sell to whoever gives them the money they want.

The fact still stands, we can't afford him, even on loan. United aren't going to pay any of his wages if they loan him out. I'll be very surprised if he isn't sold before the end of the window.

Fair enough, and I admit that him coming to Everton is unlikely, but the idea that United will refuse to sell to a competitor for the title is far from absurd. Leaving the very possible scenario of Rooney spending most of his time as a substitute next season, which Rooney will want to avoid for good reason.

I think we could afford his wages for nine months or so, we'd benefit from the Rooney effect as well.
