....cheers for finding that and great that there are happy memories for you too.

If he was still with us, hed have loved all these old photos on here. He went on about his favourites like Roy Vernon, Dennis Stevens, Tommy Ring etc when hed had a few bevvies and said they were like champagne amidst crates of brown in comparison to other teams. That W. Brom game was just after Easter and hed been due back down the smoke on the Monday but he just didn't go back staying up here to go the game with me. Even when he emigrated to Australia not long after, my Ma could've had shares in the Post Office the money she spent sending him the Pink Footie Echo and other Everton stuff...he worked permanent nights in Oz but always switched his shifts or took leave when we were on the telly there...they got much more UK footie than us then. Wish I could turn back the clock.

Remember this guy?

I was really excited when this young lad with the exotic sounding name signed for us.
Even more so when shortly after he signed, he scored 4 in a ressies match.
I was at a do in one of the lounges at Goodison the same evening and he came in to a hero's welcome.

Downhill from there I'm afraid.

Ended up as an inflatable novelty item (some sort of manc sense of humour) at man city, didn't he?

...if it's Varadi I think he did score the winner in a Derby.

Tommy Eglington, scorer of Everton’s first live televised goal
A couple of quickfire goals in the space of as many minutes silenced the majority of the 59,199 crowd as Tommy Eglington would put Everton in front on 32 minutes before John Willie Parker doubled their advantage on 34 minutes. -

Heres the only clip available...and no goal build up but it what a cracker it was. I'll never forget that night ...my late big bro took me as he did when he was home from working in London (which he made sure was regularly !).

Like the way Harry walked on, in his overcoat, no emotion totally calm and chewing gum.
