Old Everton Pictures

I may be wrong but I think he scored this after dispossessing Bobby Moore who was putting on his usual relaxed, cool performance, until Johnson rushed him and took the ball off his toe.
Pretty sure I remember that. Didn't it come a bit after much the same had happened to Moore after a match v Poland away???

The minute books of Everton F.C. uncover much of the story behind the Anfield Split. The Split was a dramatic disagreement between Everton committee members which broke into the open in September 1891. At the time Everton played at the Anfield ground which is now the home of Liverpool FC. They had been there since 1884 -The rent by John Holding tripled our rent plus he was making a fortune on the larger crowds using his facilities - We moved over the park financed by Director Dr Baxter on an interest free loan to convert the land of mere market garden disused on Goodison road - the rest is history - below is our old ground -

Another varied reason of our dispute with John Holding - yet on the ground tour it was the rent plus other articles state in was the hike in the rent ... - The Sandon was his public house where he benefited on beer sales -
John Houlding's downfall at Everton was not just the result of disagreements about the rent of Anfield. Many members of the Everton committee including George Mahon and William Clayton did not believe that a football club should be associated with the drinks' trade. Houlding owned a brewery. Also Mahon, who belonged to the Liberal Party, and Houlding, a Conservative, had clashed over local election campaigns. -
