The 66 celebration with Harry Catterick in the forefront and behind him Fred Pickering, the sixties version of The Latch. My first game watching the blues was against Blackburn in 1963 us getting beat 4-2 with Pickering scoring three, I recall. We then did what the likes of United, Chelsea and City do today, and that is go out and buy those good players, and signed Fred for £80K. In his debut, he scored a hat trick for us this time. I was there to witness that one as well. He weighed in with a good few goals during his time with us, and was famously injured for the cup final which meant Trebilcock played in his place.
Cancel Varadi...insert Smallman. Is that David Irving 2nd row down, far right ?Christ...they look like a bunch of 70s Eastern Bloc heavies. Stewart Imlach and Ray Varadi on the left. Surly gets werent they !
Which One ?Is that Cliff Marshall?

Looks like it was complete there
Looks like him.David smallman too. Is that a young billy wright back row third from left?
I think we sold him too soon. I always liked him.Looks like him.
Memories well and truly stirred looking at all these team pics. Ken McNaught was a player who promised much but who faded too soon.
I liked McNaught as well, ended up retiring very early thoughI think we sold him too soon. I always liked him.
Great pic!and great day! Look at Dave Thomas in the background. The photographers used to virtually sit on the goal line and have to jump back if the players came off the pitch!!!think this was number 5 against Chelsea in 78 Big Bobs 2nd. My hero absolutely loved him, still do. Had a piece of Goodison turf in our shed for ages
Looks like him.
