Old Everton Pictures

Alan Ball as a kid.

Northern grit.. all that West 'Am won it BS.. Cohen, Peters and Moore Landon boys, the other 8 were Northern lads.

Pity Sandy's didn't go that side of the post...but then we would be minus a Classic.
Fair swap in the end, we won there AND won the League.
Shankly bamboozled Harry that day playing winger peter Thompson in what is now called the 'false No. 9' and bobby graham out wide...nobody knew who was marking who...well on the blue side anyway...hence Sandy coming in to cover the middle from LB...and the rest is history as is said.
Sandy' own goal was when the old main stand was there in December 1969 so I think the year for the photo might actually be 1971. What you say about the 3-0 defeat in which he scored his famous o.g. is spot on. We were battered but got good revenge at their ground the following March AND won the league just a few weeks later!!! Sweet moments!!

Everton results has tony Currie in the Sheffield Utd that day. No Birchenhall in the team.
As an aside saw Currie and Duncan McKenzie destroy us playing for Leeds later in the late 70s.

Remember being behind some Sheffield United fans in the Paddock as we went from 2-0 up to 2-3 down and they shouted "men of steel" after each of their goals.

Tony Currie was amazing by the way.
